XboxEra Community Hangout |OT11| It Goes To 11!

It’s interesting how antitrust was right on it during early internet explorer days but let IOS and android run around absolutely unopposed and are only now waking up. They let Apple and Google’s closed walled gardens hide behind a facade of privacy, when all PC OSs were far more open, Mac included. At least the EU is finally doing something, but it’s too late now for a new competitor to emerge in either mobile or search.

EU is doing a lot of good stuff lately.

Is it? Or did two weeks ago stop existing? :valle:

To me it has been low since the begining of the year, these layoffs just cemeng more and more that feeling.

It was sky high at the game awards, went down early January, went sky high last week, and is down now. For 95% of their audience that don’t keep up like we do? hasn’t moved an inch

To be honest, I’m not feeling too hot on them, right now.

Yeah it’s really depressing having all these games coming out…

It’s awful having Xbox be in the best position they’ve been in years. Ugh, get that day one game pass release of Persona 3 remake that I’ll be playing addictively next week away from me.

(Not to downplay how much today sucks and how awful this is for the developers losing their jobs. I just don’t hold any concern for Xbox as a whole)

Feel so bad. This company is probably going to have a better year even layoffs is an industry thing right now. It’s not only in Microsoft that feels so bad. Jesus Christ bro get out your feelings and realize that Microsoft the only one about to have layoffs. Sony is about to get hit hard too all. I’m not feeling them feeling well. You just had a good direct. All of a sudden the layoffs canceled that s*** out.

Yeah, elements of this fanbase tend to be a tad bit reactionary. It’s always switching between ‘to the moon!’ and ‘the moon is falling!’, like I’m not too hot on the layoffs but there is something to be said about a measured evenhanded response to the situation.

Those who influence lead the way. Few reporters out there are like Tom Warren, able to calmly assess something and then report. Though most aren’t “reporters” either, they’re creators/influencers and live off of the panic.

Yeah, the Xbox influencer sphere is somewhat of a double edged sword. I can’t be bothered to deal with them anymore, especially since Twitter started rewarding hot takes with more than just attention.

i’m not fussed about physical media dying. I stopped caring about plastic discs when they started to be the only thing in the box. I think this happened at the end of the 360 gen? Witcher 2 was one of the last box with some goodies in it for the normal price point.

I’m digital on PC for almost 20 years :woman_shrugging:

I only really need a disc drive in my console for some 360 games.

I think the next xbox and ps will be all digital with a disk add on. xbox mite not even release any games digitally next gen but I can see them still selling the drive for people with old disk based games and any new games that come out. I do think most developers move away from physical soon anyway due to more profit
