I know i know i cheated by getting this early. This is a really cute game and has some fun ideas. Good story, art and music. Very bare bones menu and no auto text option but i recommend. Straightforward achievements and obly things missable is if you skip side stuff but it is very obvious where it is

Even though I’m lovin Atom Heart, I decided to put it down whilst they iron out the buggy achievements. Especially when story beat achievements aren’t popping now.

Decided to check out Shadow Warrior 3

Real fun easy completion that plays like doom. Totally different from the OG Shadow Warrior reboot but I had fun with it. Has a collectible achievement but chapter select is available once you finish the campaign.

I… ABSOLUTELY loved this game!!!

Taking a dumb dating sim parody, Gal Gun, and turning it into Castlevania… Why not? And they did it extremely well!

The tone of the “main series” has been kept, especially so in the game’s later half. Maybe that’s to the dismay of people who wanted a “real” Castlevania game, but I thoroughly enjoyed the silly juvenile humor.

While this is not a metroidvania, you do unlock new abilities and can revisit all the stages to reach new areas in the stages and find more collectables and powerup items. I’d say it’s Castlevania Portrait of Ruin style with the two protagonists who specialize in different attacks. If playing single player you’ll need to switch constantly (which is fast, one button press) to make up for their weaknesses. The game also supports local coop.

The biggest flaw is that there is NO collectable tracker for the levels! There IS a compass that tells you if an important collectable is near by (there is one type of collectable the compass does not point out, and you need them all for all achievements). If you’re missing something and don’t know where it could be… The only choice is to search through all 8 levels again. Really hope they patch in this highly need QoL feature even though I am already done with everything.

As a final thing, the “true ending” of the game actually has you battle against Kurona in the gameplay style of Gal Gun! It turns into a rail shooter! It’s so hilarious that I had the world’s goofiest smile on my face. Not to mention the ending just kept that smile going.

In the words of Kurona, this is why I love Inti Creates so much. They honestly feel like a company run by fans of themselves, if that makes sense. It helps that this is an exceedingly well done 2D platformer.

Cheated again by early code. this was actually on PS4 and Steam already. Comes out on the 17th. Short interesting game, a bit weird cause its all on triggers so some stuff doesn’t seem to spawn before the triggers. Randomized location of keys but it stays in the same room so not to bad. Some neat puzzles but the final one is annoying af cause you gotta get good angles to see the pieces of the puzzle. Its got some cute lil easter eggs and randomly has anime babes on some posters

Completion #116

This was not fun… One of the most drawn out, in every way, games I’ve ever played. Not only was everything weird (weird can be good) but it felt very made-up-as-we-go-along-smoking-this-joint in a lot of ways. Some parts where neat, but they drowned in the molasses of painful misery that made up the rest.

I almost quit, that says a lot.

The achievements were thankfully nothing major. Only annoying ones were to get all the collectables because the game doesn’t track them, but I was able to run through every mission in like 2 hours thanks to having endgame gear to grab everything I missed.

Usually Team Ninja adds in some dreadful achievements with DLC though…

Completion #82: Guilty Gear Strive

Beautiful game with an extremely easy achievement list bar just 1 achievement which is extremely difficult even with cheese methods it could still require a lot of patience.

This is exactly how I felt and was puzzled to why it’s so well regarded. It just didn’t make any sense to me and made me feel stupid. Even after watching a YouTube video essay on it I still couldn’t wrap my head around it. I jumped in thinking It would be a quick fun completion with a good story. Just wasn’t my jam at all.

I think the problem is that it’s actually a game with episodes which released every few months or even years. First act released in 2013 and the last in 2020.

If you would review each episodes on its own, it’s not that long, but because it’s the “'complete” edition you can feel that the pacing, story and quality is not constant throughout the game.
