On the contrary, I think it would be a good idea to open up Halo to more possibilities. Who’s saying anything about forcing it onto anyone?
The only thing I’d criticise here is the timing, it’s a little in poor taste to bring up such a thing amid layoffs. I’d be fine with other teams having the option to make side games.
A shitty take is a shitty take. I ain’t being dramatic. This is the same dude that said killed Grounded & Outer Worlds and forced Obsidian on Fallout lol. who is defending this dude at this point? he knows exactly what he is doing with tweets.
considering how much the Halo community cries because of sprint, anything that ID does will be met with the same if not worse reaction. And ID wouldn’t even try to make a Halo that feels like Halo, neither would any other devs out there.
For the mainline Halo I’d agree, but side games I see no reason why they couldn’t change things up.
Sure, as long as it’s not an fps.
Well, it doesn’t have to be aimed at the old guard. I think that pool is a bit too small nowadays… There are more ways to make good Halo spin-offs that can reach a lot of people.
I question any studio’s sanity that would willingly take on Halo at this point, one of the worst fanbases out there
If another studio wants to do that fine and I enjoy infinite but the thought of other studio’s being stuck making Halo games sounds horrible, especially big ones like iD
And the old guard will tear it down like they do any fps halo not aimed at them. But like I said above, as long as it’s not an FPS, I think it could work.
Yeah, my first thoughts are not into the pure FPS direction either tbh. I would want a Mass Effect Halo most of all heh.
It’s not lol. You’re just like any other Twitter warrior. You follow people you don’t like, and then get upset about what they tweet, and then want validation from everyone else. It’s a recurring theme,
Feels tasteless to make that tweet right after massive layoffs.
Mass effect Halo? Like RPG Halo?
Plenty of studios would love to produce their own take on Halo.
I’m not sure why people have such a aversion to the idea.
Because of the awful community that comes with it.
In all honesty, I wouldn’t mind seeing Id Software make a Halo spin off game. The possibilities of all the studios potentially working on other IP’s is insane and I mean this in a good way. For Id, they would nail the combat/gameplay/shooting mechanics, it would be mostly linear so there’s another win, soundtrack would be excellent so another win, game would look visually impressive so again, another win and no padding open world stuff whatsoever. Just a nice 15 hour campaign and done. All Id would have to do is have a good story/premise and boom. Instant winner in my opinion.
It’s that easy huh
I think Xbox should make a FPS “Mario Maker / Far Cry 5” level creator using ID tech and Microsoft properties. Something like Halo Forge but with IDTech and more accessible to the masses.
Hot takes coming in nice and swift, I see…
Id Software makes great first person shooters so I don’t see why they couldn’t do a Halo spin off game. Imagine a fast paced Halo shooter where Master Chief is ripping and tearing!!! Come on. Instant classic!!!
