XboxEra Community Hangout |OT9| Waiting for Developer_E3

Won’t be a money hat thing.

If it doesn’t come to Xbox day 1 then P3/4/5R didn’t perform to their expectations and would rather wait for a gamepass deal or Atlus just didn’t make it a priority.

I’m 99% confident that the Persona franchise will be a day 1 multiplat franchise from now on though.

Yeah, I think that might be the solution. Unsure what the cost would be to maintain that, but could be a solution to help out Japanese studios and even indies.

Multiplat development can be a big struggle for these types of teams, yeah. The best example is Falcom. They develop their games exclusively on Playstation and then outsource the Switch and PC versions (and Stadia, when that was a thing lol) to NIS America, who works with PH3 Games on these ports (btw, they would totally have the capacity for Xbox ports, especially now that Stadia ports are dead, just missing the incentive for it).

Only now in 2023 is Falcom changing to develop the Switch versions in house, because their games were starting to sell poorly launching as PS launch exclusives so they needed the Switch versions to arrive day 1. They’ve talked about in interviews how this alone is quite the undertaking for them.

A porting assistance studio is something I’ve wondered about but there are some questions to be raised

  • What is the incentive for such devs to use this porting team? I wouldn’t know what the specifics are, but I don’t think MS will offer this service for free. If MS actually had consistent “Directs” then the biggest incentive I think could be offered would be “Your game could get lots of exposure on our big livestream”
  • What is the “size” criteria for being allowed/“disallowed” to use this service? Obviously I would say that the giant publishers like Square Enix would be barred from using it, but there are smaller teams within the giant publishers like Gust at Koei Tecmo and D3Publisher at Bandai Namco who don’t currently do Xbox releases for possibly resource reasons
  • Is there a “quality” standard for the games that would be ported? Even at such a studio there would be it’s own set of limited resources. If there are 20 moe-anime-girl-visual-novel studios at the door (I say let 'em in ), would they be “turned away” in favor of porting “better” games?

I claimed so many games from Epic Games Store, even though i have never once installed their launcher lol

Might as well claimed all the free game from Epic. You never know if you will use them later.

I claimed it on EGS too despite it being on PC GamePass.

Yeah, as long as it a free game, just go to their website and claimed. No need to install anything unless you actually want to.

There has been nothing to confirm or deny the next Persona coming to Xbox.

In this case it won’t be about sales, but about how many players the series has attracted thanks to the Game Pass. If the numbers are as expected or even higher, I’d say an Xbox release is certain, as happened with the Yakuza saga. The numbers made on Game Pass convinced SEGA to bring Like a Dragon to day one on Xbox even without Game Pass.

Just found out that Skellig is real. Was doing the Rewards quiz and there I found out the island is very real. Cool!

They just won’t let it go.

Why would they when others keep amplifying their traffic by reposting it everywhere?

I’m glad there is no media bias.

I don’t know if this is new stuff but I noticed some stuff with Project Dragon from IOI, I’m sure this will be slothed lol, just job listing stuff on their website. This stuck out to me and it looks like Microsoft greenlit it proper.

Just finished Mass Effect 1, really enjoyed my time on it.

Really pissed off my buddies on the group chat though, I made some quite controversial choices I guess.

:face_with_open_eyes_and_hand_over_mouth:

Wrex and Kaiden died unfortunately.

Server closing in February. Is there anything that sticks, Square? Maybe that game with Final Fantasy fonts but sheesh, how many closures. Surely, Nier and Octopath are safe…right?

You will probably regret killing Wrex but almost everyone sacrifices the boring squadmate and keeps the space racist

I killed W in my first play through back on the 360, and so I went through all the games without one of the most iconic characters in the series.

I wouldn’t change it.
