Yeah, it’s a extreme example. But a brand new IP? For example a new IP, not funded by Sony, but just like with FF7R they make it timed exclusive or just not say anything and have Xbox players guessing? That’s the kind of shit I hope won’t happen now that Sony might have some say in it.
Don’t care about FF at this point, but I guess even Square Enix realized that full year of PS5 might bring trouble to FF IP.
If it’s new IPs funded and published by Sony, can’t really complain there.
As already said above, 14% ownership really isn’t enough for Sony to just look at every game they’re making and say “Hey make this timed exclusive to PlayStation”. They wouldn’t have even needed to invest into the company like this to offer timed exclusivity bribes either, so IMO the “threat” of that hasn’t changed between before their investment and now.
I’m not even going to start expecting that this game will come to Xbox someday. Mainline FF is never happening, I think that much has become clear. It sucks, especially FF7R because I honestly don’t find 16 looking that impressive at all.
PC, but no way Xbox already after six months, if ever at all. I’ll change my mind once FF7R drops on Xbox. And that’s never
I guess they’re scared for low sale, so come to PC earlier than expected. As for Xbox, go dice roll.
Let’s be prepared for the worst, this is Sony we are talking about…being annoying is a sure thing coming from them.
Contrary to me, while not exactly impressive, but it’s the first time since 12 that FF looked mildly interesting to me in their approach/tone. FF7R is still from the FF13/15 era (bad) and is also something of a nostalgia bait. While FF16 seem like they’re trying to redirect the franchise as much as they could at least.
FF7R on Xbox ? … forget it, move on.
maybe PC Game pass
Meant Intergrade, but the point was that I can see it being spun over a few years regardless - between the inevitable EGS deal and additional content etc.
Have to wonder how Square are retailing their pivot towards second party PlayStation developer in meetings with Microsoft etc. Easy to imagine that Xbox pushing SEGA content so vociferously comes off the back of a breakdown in relations with SE - of which, moneyhats almost certainly was a contributor.
We might get Joseph Fares (It takes Two, A way Out, Brothers) new game at TGA!
Is it good or bad for a Sonic game?
I am not talking about Xbox, but PC. The thing is originally FF16 supposed to be 1 year PS exclusive right?
I don’t think it was ever stated. The reveal trailer just said “Also on PC” which got pulled and they pretended it wasn’t coming to PC. 6 months is the first time we’re hearing a specific amount of time.
So, the Digital Trends guy hated it. Never read a review from him before.
But Chris Scullion, someone I trust to the ends of the earth when it comes to platform video games (he literally wrote the book on it) gave it 4/5.
That digital trends woke up angry and decided to take it on Sonic.
Wait for other reviews to arrive
The more time has changed, the more it stays the same…
I think this is a wait for gamepass situation for me.
