Yeah, that’s why I don’t buy into SE looking for a loophole. They don’t care. At best I can see them looking a loophole how to get more money from somebody
The great thing about being in EGS is most will think “I’ll just wait for it to be a free giveaway on EGS” instead of buying it.
I dont buy the rumor but Square’s management is a mess
Instead of building their franchises and trying to grow with multiplatform releases they’ve consistently taken these crappy moneyhats from wherever they can get it and all it does is harm growth in the long run
Square not actually owning Dragon Quest is a blessing. The series would end if DQ12 was a PS5 exclusive.
Yeah, that’s why I don’t buy the rumor. I don’t believe that Square Enix has suddenly become concerned about the growth of their games
What’s the point of this? It is easier for them to move the game somewhere further, with a release date.
Most likely, the game will be released in March, and by this time about 37 million Ps5 will have been sold.
And again. The meaning in the crossgene is also, as it were, exhausted. Judging by sales reports in various places, old generation players are not too willing to buy new games there, but rather wait for a new console to come to them in order to buy a game there. Christopher Dring spoke about this on his Twitter.
We have a recent announcement from WB games where they simply canceled the Ps4 and Xbone versions, apparently because they didn’t want to bother with optimization and because the costs are not worth the further profit.
We have Nacon canceling the old console version for the new Test Drive.
I do not believe at all that there will be at least five large projects that will be released next year and will have a version for old consoles.
It is high time to end this.
And I don’t think Japan is the main market for Final Fantasy.
Yes, it is important, but how many have been sold in the latest versions relative to the rest of the world. I think not too much.
Yet again. We have a VGC journalist saying that Sony has basically blocked the Final Fantasy series from their console (and possibly PC) for the rest of the generation.
They are going to sell 17 million PS5s in 10 months?
He said that “Sony was trying to do that”. We don’t know whether it happened or not. But it would not be surprising if Square Enix started to have second thoughts. Keep in mind that the whole idea was that PS5 would obliterate Xbox and it would become another PS4/Xbox One gen. But with Microsoft going all in, Series S being a brilliant idea and everything else, PC gaming growth, wide accessibility of gaming- the situation on the market is completely different. Throw in shortages and the market layout is completely different.
When Microsoft go will big money in Japan, I am pretty sure Square Enix would want to be a part of it.
Faster than in two years With bidding wars over wafers
I don’t know where the information about 5 million copies in a few years comes from. All I see is that they sold 5 million copies in a few months after release.
They are going to sell 18 million ps5 by April 2023, yes
I remember years ago when Xbox had FF15 featured in their show, I was so happy to see the franchise on Xbox. And now look, ah well, it’s not that 15 was super amazing or anything and 16 remains to be seen.
I do wonder what Xbox has tried to get FF7R as well, Sony probably offered a very nice sum of money and Xbox wasn’t willing to go too crazy with it. Meh, who knows.
I wonder if the team was on track for the April date, who even knows with covid having damaged everything. I see people in the thread saying they can’t wait to play it soon. Yeah, ease on down with those expectations I’d say.
Yes. You’re right. He said that Sony wants to block the series on their consoles.
But I don’t think Square Enix is thinking about what’s going to happen in the future. What will the game landscape look like.
We need to wait until the shortage of equipment stops, or is reduced to a minimum.
And see what happens in the end.
Haha, very undeserved praise but I’ll take it, thanks.
I don’t think Microsoft tried to get FF7R. Though FF7R has a very old contracts in place I believe as it was announced in 2015. It took a lot of time to develop a game.
And that’s the main thing why I don’t buy into that FF16 rumor. Square Enix never cared about the growth of their IPs. They only cared about getting monneys from moneyhats. Why suddenly change of heart?

It looks like the Sega Hatsune Miku series (the rhythm one) is coming to Steam. It’s already on PS and Switch.
Plz also add Xbox for this release Sega. We got a Miku game but it was a puzzle game not made by Sega…
Rune Factory 5 also got a Steam listing so hopefully Xbox is on the list for that too, I worry about this one because Xbox is not getting the next Story of Seasons despite getting the previous, hope it doesn’t happen with Rune Factory too.
I would bet a lot that they will not sell more consoles in the next 11 months than the previous 17
I have my doubts too
When they only did 2 million in 3 months and have announced no plans for changes, the estimate of 17 million in 12 months seems questionable.
