I want to play Rhythm games like Taiko no Tatsujin: The Drum Master!

FFVII deal was made sometime in late 2014/early 2015. For a game that released in 2020. It’s a speculation on my part, but FFXVI exclusivity deal could have been made sometime in 2017/2018 when Xbox was not doing so well.

That seemed like it was a bigger success than usual on Game Pass. Maybe GP players would like Miku a lot too

FFVII? FF17? You mean remake?

VII is 7, XVII is 17

Oh, I forgot that that FF now has X after the name

Yeah, maybe in 2017/2018. Because FF16 supposed to be released in 2021 right?

I’m not sure about that because Hatsune Miku: Project DIVA is a bit hardcore Rhythm game but I would love to play it

They say that there may be problems due to the coronavirus in China, or something like that. But, probably, they predict in advance the number of parts that will be required.

Exactly. Pretty short sighted decision making by SE.

As you said imagine limiting your potential audience (as some of you guys pointed out the IP’s future/growth as well) to only one platform in 2022 for a multi-million AAA game when Xbox and PC are growing stronger and stronger…I am really curious to see how FFXVI will do sales wise on the PS5. :philwins:

Also imagine if FF14 was available on Xbox too and Microsoft allowed to run it in the cloud? I think Square Enix could negotiate that deal, but FF14 being exclusively unavailable on Xbox hurts the growth of FF14 too. FF14 simply would not have a competition on the console space and extending it to potentially Xbox Series Puck would grow it even more.

Though I still doubt that rumor, because Square Enix never really cared about the growth of their IPs.

Gonna go out on a limb here and say I think both Persona and FF7R are coming to Xbox this year and day 1 game pass. Shadow dropped at E3, I also think they might have been able to nab MW2 which is probably why they are ok with delaying Starfield because they think those are enough to cover it. Call me crazy but that’s just gonna be my out there prediction.

Sony must have some kind of blackmail on Square Enix. I cannot imagine they are paying them THAT much to have these Final Fantasy games stay exclusive. I think Persona is much more likely to show up on Xbox than FF.

It is more likely that there some friendly ties between various execs there. It happens everywhere.

These 3rd party companies must see how much damage being exclusive does to their IP, look at Elden ring for example imagine if that was exclusive to one platform, that would have been terrible for the IP. It’s not going to always be about flat out cash because if you just take money and exclude it from so many people you won’t be able to grow that IP.

Money talks at some point

That’s true, but sometimes certain directors have a lot of influence too.

All in all, I think for a lot of third party publishers the current state of Xbox is a rude awakening and a big surprise.

Switch version would be cloud only

So putting that game on cloud only and not for xbox would be a massive insult to both switch and xbox users. Clear SE have basically given the FF franchise to sony at this point.

Yep. Some directors are just incredible and networked negotiators that are irreplaceable. Especially in areas of purchasing, supply chain, and relations.

Persona issue is mroe down to atlus. Nothing to do with sony. Sega also have a great relationship with xbox.

I am assuming we’re getting a next gen switch in a year or 2, so could release it on that
