I see the outlook on crowd of GT7 as a “what goes around, comes around.” If I recall correctly, Forza Motorsport 5 was criticized for “cardboard” crowd and PS fans were dancing and mocking. Now it’s their turn and reacted like how you expected. Other than that, it is what it is.

Like, I agree with you, and Sony games and studios were overpraised and used a lot to sh*t on other games and developers, I’ve always hated when that happened. I’ve always talked against putting some developers on a pedestal of superiority. However, the fact that we saw that and hated it happening to other devs, especially Xbox devs who imo were underappreciated a lot last gen, should also give us the perspective that we shouldn’t do it “back” because it really helps no one. There’s a reason Phil said what he said recently about “weaponizing” games and developers.

To be fair - I’m not sure open world would be quite as big a detractor. Stuck on a rigid track with barricades you’re more likely to not get a good look at an NPC, so lower quality assets make sense. It’s meant to be driven past at 100mph after all. Yes, open worlds are more technically demanding but it’s likely more to do with resource management than resource limitations.
I personally didn’t shit on HFW nor GT7, I only chuckled when I saw all the issues with the 1st and the underwhelming graphical results of the 2nd.

Could get an Xbox release eventually like Panzer Dragoon. Probably wouldn’t play it on Xbox with stick controls though.

Isn’t this a scummy practice and how come very few reviewers talked about this being a full prized game. Compare it with how they reacted and absolutely shat on Forza Motorsport 7. Hypocrisy much.

And don’t forget its a 70 dollar game. Plus now think about it they are blacklisting some reviewers for unfavorable scores. Doesn’t that make you think how come most of the reviewers ignored this aspect.
Wait, FM7 didn’t have mtx? If I remember correctly it was FM6 that had mtx with gameplay elements in them and loot boxes on top and that’s why people complained, but I could be remembering wrong.
nope, it was one of the few games not to have MTX. They removed it from the game after reaction to FM6 and I believe FH3 MTX. However progression was kinda slow in FM7
Because it’s not live until post launch or post reviews at least. They [publishers] don’t view it as part of the game that deserves to be reviewed.
So that’s a scummy/dishonest move on PlayStation part, and don’t you think journalists know about that. They should have waited for reviewing the game after the MTs went live. Or maybe they are afraid that Sony being a market leader would blacklist them. I am not complaining about the game but the journalistic practices and ethics, where there are different yardsticks for different platforms, and this keeps on repeating.

So we can finally conclude $70 price tag doesn’t mean removal of mtx. I honestly read that’s the case. The problem was that all recent PS titles were single player only. Now that we have a game with multiplayer and/or collection involvement, we can finally see the actual result and it’s not surprising. Another narrative bite the dust.

Well they clearly ignored it; probably put the blame on MLB official.
Any MP game from Sony has mtx. It’s always been ridiculous to me how people said Sony games don’t have mtx. On top, those games didn’t even have the benefit of mtx (long term support and free content).

The oddest thing about that GT7 comparison clip is how the GT7 camera almost seems to stabilize around the car giving it a weird distorted effect. Or am I just going crazy?
