Release the games you cowards!

Man i hope these people never watch The VVitch. But i feel like this is just yet another excuse to paint Sony as the “good guy”. Maybe i am cynical but if you look at posts from a lot of these people they suffer from some serious Stockholm syndrome shit. Also the overreaction " the devs can go to hell". Calm down buddy.

It’s been a while since I watched that movie, but that bit from that game sounds a bit disturbing, damn, haha.

Social media? Unless they have a feedback section over their site. Well, we’ll see what happens down the road but can’t count it out nor expect it. You never know with Xbox these days. Nice to see more people asking about Xbox instead of letting unasked.

In all honesty though, do we really need Atelier? Koei Tecmo games are low effort, low budget, just meh kind of games. I don’t think we’re missing anything

So “Waddle Dee Knows” (person who “leaked the Nintendo Direct”) was a fake “Insider” account. Check out this hilarious video on how he did it, and the issue with all these “insiders”

Dude put “professional” sites like VGC to shame with that.

I want Ninja Theory to create a character for Overwatch 2. That is all.

I saw that the other day and it is hilarious and shines a light on the whole ‘insider’ game and the sites who chase it to generate clicks.

It feels like there’s different people giving green light or not at ID@Xbox, are developers required to deploy games with them or they could use the traditional sector instead?

I think every western release of Resident Evil except for Windows and maybe Deadly Silence were censored, this sounds more like the Xbox and Switch being the Japanese version while Playstation is the North America and Europe version.

From my perspective, it seems like it’s like Steam where it’s up to whoever is reviewing the game if it can release or not, so you see varying contents getting blocked or accepted.

Like this game was accepted and advertises “shattering the female opponents armor!” and it’s ID@Xbox and looks fanservicey

But then from the same publisher (eastasiasoft) we have another game (appears to be a fanservicey Mahjong game) getting denied (was allowed on PS and Switch)

https://twitter.com/JoshuaMFrench/status/1418322475063070721

Then we have Gamuzumi (VN publisher who’s games are all accepted onto Switch and Playstation) saying “Xbox” (ID@Xbox?) is saying stuff like this

https://twitter.com/gamuzumi/status/1443959449002074113

https://twitter.com/gamuzumi/status/1443972631099842577

BUT THEN this ONE time, they were allowed to release a game on Xbox, and it’s M rated too (they’ve had a TEEN rated VN denied release before) AND the game was also censored on PS, but NOT on Xbox or Switch.

So again, to me, it looks like there are some reviewers at Xbox/ID@Xbox who have 0 tolerance on this stuff, and some who don’t mind.

I do not know if they MUST use ID@Xbox (it would appear not according to above posters), or if it is even ID@Xbox behind this at all, but perhaps this is the cheapest and therefore only way for them to publish onto the platform.

I am curious how cultural differences may play into this as well if the review board is still in Japan. MS seems to be stricter on nudity/sexuality, Sony on violence. This is not uncommon for the US and Japan at least based on some reports.

IMO this is likely to continue to be stances taken by these platforms going forward, and they won’t be swayed by complaints from those who are upset about these policies.

Sony’s? No, hasn’t been since at least 2018. This is where that “hostile behavior” I mentioned Sony was doing comes from. You can read a bit about it here

light: “ It seems like Sony is currently going towards a direction that won’t allow us to port anything rated 18 and up anywhere in the world. Since this game is also ages 18 and up, it is getting severely inspected, and we’re getting all kinds of questions. And they’re also telling us to please write it all in English.

The bolded part really bothers me. This game was not even due for an English release. Why did it have to pass through SIE’s American office?

And we have this guy here who is in charge of translating it to English and sending it over to Sony, but it really makes me want to tell them ‘What the heck, you guys don’t even speak Japanese?’ At this rate, if it passes inspection at Sony now then I think we’ll get to release it at the beginning of the year.

And they’re right. Until 2018ish, they didn’t have to do this nonsense of hiring translators just to communicate with Sony’s California office.

If Sony isn’t okay with it then we’ll just release it elsewhere.”

The article is from 2018. The developer in this interview, Light, is now a Switch exclusive developer.

Another thuggish thing they did was prevent PQube from releasing “Omega Labyrinth Z” at the very last second (2 weeks before release). This is kinda the title that started this whole Sony censorship thing. The big issue I take here is that PQube straight up said they lost money on this cancellation. Finished translation just sitting there, never to be released. 0 reimbursement from Sony. You get nothing, good day sir. The sequel was a Switch exclusive and the trailers were making fun of Sony.

Have you played the Ryza series or any other? I’ve heard they’re quite good, certainly not “low effort”.

I haven’t played Ryza, but Sophie is a pretty fun game and doesn’t feel low effort or low budget at all. Would be a great look on GP.

Gust is also Blue Reflection, which is popular, and my personal favourite the EXA_PICO games (Ar Tonelico, Ar Nosurge, Ciel Nosurge etc)

They are pretty far down the totem pole of important Japanese franchise ports, compared to some of the stuff we’re missing, but all are great games and would absolutely be a boon for the service IMO
