Broken Sword 5 is one of the best point & click adventure games on Xbox. But i already own it, so bad month for me. But if you don’t and like these kind of games you should try it out.
This looks boring af and i know this is prototype footage. But i mean the cinematic linear ‘platforming’ without player agency, like the first level in Fallen Order. Almost dropped the game because of this bs.
To clarify, it’s a different game, like Megaman game differences, but it has the same “amount” of content. There was speculation that the higher price meant a longer game this time but it wasn’t the case.
Gunvolt series is basically the spiritual successor to Mega Man Zero, it’s the same devs even (Inti Creates). It’s like 10x more anime though (J-Pop starts blaring when you start playing really well) and has an edgier story.
If there’s one Inti Creates game I had to recommend it will always be Blaster Master Zero. It’s seriously one of the best trilogies I played in my life and they actually crafted a very good story out of an old NES game.
A lot cheaper than Gunvolt too (probably because the pixel art is less detailed and there’s no voice acting) even though they’re a lot longer (8-12 hours each while GV falls into 3-4 hour territory).
Sounds good. I guess I should also clarify that the two Gunvolt games on Xbox are of the “Luminous Avenger” series which is a spin-off series. The main Gunvolt series is “Azure Striker Gunvolt” which has also 2 games… They weren’t ever brought to Xbox sadly.
The endgame section of Luminous Avenger 1 actually spoils a bit of one of the endings from Azure Striker Gunvolt 1 (might get confusing for those who did not play ASG1), but I wouldn’t worry too much about the story anyway.
There was a theory with some reviewers that the dumb AI was intentional due to the puzzle framework of the game. The game forces you do certain things at certain times, but none of that is obvious at first.
The theory is that if you were having to fight really tough enemies at the same time as figuring out the puzzle, backtracking, experimenting, etc it would just be too much for most players. They would get frustrated and quit.
I’m not sure if I completely buy that, but I will say the dumb AI never really bothered me - and I still got in plenty of tough (nearly impossible) fights because I would do something stupid and alert the entire map to come after me.
I think MS is already aware of that. Jez even alluded that MS was not happy with the service either, but they were waiting for a milestone with Game Pass to drop it altogether.
I’ll keep saying it; SFV moneyhat was under special circumstances that are no longer the case. Capcom was actually dying then and Sony offered to partially fund the game in exchange for permanent console exclusivity. We’ll not be seeing Capcom moneyhats again now that MHW and better RE games propelled them to new heights. They even said that PC will be their main platform now. Difficult to imagine them taking moneyhats that take them away from PC for a year.
Anyway, to be a party pooper for a minute… MH “rip-offs” usually miss the mark for me. MH is the only hunting game I stick to.
I mean that’s just another special circumstance. They wanted a MH game on Switch because it would sell gangbusters in Japan (and it very much did). That would absolutely not be the case with a PS5 exclusive MH.
