Can the UK push back on every other subscription service and/or repeat payment for this exact thing. There’s things I am sure I pay way way more for and don’t use that I’d love to be refunded for.

With this thought process stuff like the insurance industry should be entirely dismantled.

Solid good news for consumers. This was the result of the UK’s Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) investigation into online gaming. The CMA looked at Sony and Nintendo too. Hopefully they put in place similar cha ges too.

From TA writeup @ Microsoft to change Xbox subscription auto-renewal and refund practices in UK

Michael Grenfell, the CMA’s executive director of enforcement said, "Gamers need to be given clear and timely information to make informed choices when signing up for auto-renewing memberships and subscriptions. We are therefore pleased that Microsoft has given the CMA these formal undertakings to improve the fairness of their practices and protect consumers, and will be offering refunds to certain customers.

“Other companies offering memberships and subscriptions that auto-renew should take note, and review their practices to ensure they comply with consumer protection law.”

I think you’re technically using insurance even when not filing a claim. The service is reduction of risk.

At the very least I’d expect this apply to all game subscriptions including EA Play, Ubisoft Plus, Playstation Plus, Nintendo Online, Google Stadia, Amazon Luna etc.

If not it’s a targeted competitive disadvantaged.

It’s an abusive scam that results in insurance companies making boatloads of money. If you don’t need use it you should have a refund at they very least. Right now it’s a very anti consumer industry, much more so than gaming :man_shrugging:

what is these games from MS ?

Starting to feel bad for Sony in stock market wise. It has been diving since the whole Activision Blizzard purchase. Yes, not all day since then has been part of it, but it hasn’t really recovered and now, it’s tanking due to situation over stock market in Japan. It’s close to going under 100 per share. Perhaps the earning and guidance will help the matter. Meanwhile, in the midst of rocky month, Microsoft has been growing. For the record, if you think gaming forum is toxic, stock market people is no difference. They sure hate Microsoft for gaming action.

Finally beat Subnautica. Took me a little over 30 hours and loved every min of it. my wife loved it as well. There are some really tense parts in that game that even residentevil wasnt able to match for me. I can’t wait to see what unknown worlds makes next. 9/10. Everyone should try it

Broken Sword is a solid game. Don’t know about the other ones.

Fun fact: In germany Broken Sword has a different name. It’s called Baphomets Fluch.

Could be a concession in the acquisition of Activision tbh. Not something I think is necessary but may be a negotiating move if there is push from regulators on consumer price impact or their prominence in subscription services.

Was watching someone play Deathloop, just a small part of a playthrough. Seriously, what is up with the very dumb A.I.? You’d think those glowing reviews would have been a bit lower when you take that into account.

Guess I’ll see for myself when it comes to Xbox later this year.

All released today. Bought the first 2 and have Taiko on game pass.

I finished Gunvolt already. It was good but I don’t recommend it at current price. It’s $10 more than the last one for the same content and I suspect this is because they did a dub for this one (that nobody asked for)
