He’s following nearly 3000 accounts, but Devolver isn’t one of them.

Yeah for MS, it would be understandable with Game Pass to maintain the games on the service.

Annapurna would be weird because Mike’s friend and podcast co-host Austin Wintory regularly scores for games from that publisher, but that’s really bad evidence for anything lol.

that doesn’t mean they should get to own the IP though, that fundamentally breaks down the meaning of supporting indies, cuz the content is no longer the indie dev’s, but yours.

For Xbox publishing it doesn’t mean they should onw anything, but I guess they have their strategy in place to boost gamepass with permanent titles.

But if you think about it, Xbox must be one of the easiest ways to get your perfect deal.

Do you want to keep your IP and need funding? Gamepass, exclusivity and marketing deals.

Do you want major support along with the funding, but doesn’t care about owning the IP, Xbox publishing.

I don’t think we will ever know who it is, since he is saying that he is under NDA and can’t tell the name.

I agree in case of Global Publishing to a degree, but that is not the only pathway of relationship between the publisher and the dev. As you said, the former option of funding, exclusivity, etc can still exist and in such cases too if the publisher demands ownership that’s bad.

Some of the newly released BC games are still showing an error message when attempting to purchase them . I just want Revenge of the Sith, man :sob:.

yeah he said “I won’t say who that is, just read your NDAs” lol

I seriously doubt it’s MS

Look at how many indie deals they’ve made just in the last year and they dont own any of those IPs

When it comes to indie’s MS cares far more about gamepass deals than exclusivity

You mean like that report about a certain indie developer ranting on twitter because he needed to pay more to promote his own game on the PS site a few months ago?.

I mean, that’s precisely why I said they’re out of the question here because their recent reputation with indies has been anything but celebrated in the press. That’s not the only dev btw, there were several others who came forward with other issues as well.

3 data centres for Sweden is not a small thing, imho.

True, and most of them are not published by xbox either.

These are mostly ID@xbox investing deals - with just funding support and some form of exclusivity. Not many ownerships there at all.

This could be either A or D is my guess. Since these two are considered indie friendly publishers.

India has Mumbai, Chennai, Hyderabad (?) already which are considered medium-large - but not to the extent of US West or US East.

The only issue is whether they will start putting Series X blades here. That will mean a significant chunk of stocks has to be sent to one country with a massive network traffic . They will have to subtract that from somewhere. It looks like Europe and Japan/Korean might be the immediate next targets.
