Because removing sales from PS will cost MS a lot of money and as much as we all hope and think, Xbox doesn’t have an unlimited budget. I would rather them buy more studios or fund more of their own damn games, here we are people wanting 3rd party timed exclusives and we haven’t even got a bunch of gaming IP brought back that should be here.

Like I’ve said a bunch of times too, 3rd party timed exclusives are a stopgap for not having enough 1st party titles.

I personally advocate for day one GP deals, let’s say MS going to SE and proposing it vs Sony timed bullshit, what’s the better deal? The problem here is that some publishers see Xbox as worthless. My concern is that this sentiment is spreading over to the west.

Wake me up when Xbox revives Age of Mythology

Yeah fuck timed exclusives. There are far more important things for MS to spend money on.

Crackdown 4 ain’t gonna fund itself now, is it…

This is it, Sony comes to SE and offers them lets get crazy here $100m for exclusive FF18 or w/e they’re up to now. Then Microsoft comes in offers $60m for day 1 in Game Pass + they get the normal sale % per sale and get to sell on PC and PS5. This is how MS is going to tackle this in future me thinks, I think if they can make a Xbox / PC easy dev pathway it’s honestly a no brainer for them.

Is that actually the problem though? This is business, they will do the deal the deal if the price is right and it makes sense.

Zenimax signed two of these deals and obviously don’t see Xbox as worthless.

guys how to have the title beside my name?

It’ll come before an hypotethical console port, that’s sure.

Then I wonder why we have already seen 5 big time moneyhats and they will keep coming. They couldn’t even deal with Zenimax, so I’m pretty negative about the situation concerning these deals.

But would that be day 1 after a full year(or more)PS exclusivity? Because at that point I say no, not a good deal.

Xbox getting big AAA multiplats day 1 of its official release would be fantastic, but so far we have a few examples like Outriders and games like Metro Exodus and Shadow of the Tomb Raider that landed on GP a few months after release.

It remains to be seen if pubs are going to agree to big deals in the near future. Some great stuff is coming to GP, but few of them are actual AAA releases, and those are the ones Sony is targeting for.

Been wondering that since I signed up to Gaf about 10 years ago.

Guess some people are just special :pensive:

It’s abundantly clear that big time day one releases are tied to MS acquisition spree, 3rd party publishers still want their retail sales. There have been some anomalies like Outriders or MLB (Humankind is a stretch imo), but they all were singular circumstances.

Cyberpunk got a 20GB update and its not a X|s patch. The wait continues.

It’s probably going to be as simple as you might think, maybe Microsoft doesn’t want to just hand everyone money to launch on their platform?

Look we need to remember Xbox is a platform to help sell other people’s games, why the hell should Microsoft have to pay to get them to come to their platform. What kind of stupid situation that is, if MS starts to pay a few publishers money to have their games on Xbox, what is to stop every publisher say oh you know what we’re not putting our games on your platform unless you give us money.

Do you seriously think MS would allow Activision or Rock Star to not launch their games on Xbox even if they had to pay.

Some companies see Microsoft as a massive bank (because they pretty much are) and they want to take them to the bank over simple shit because they know Sony can support them. Microsoft can’t just hand over money to every single dev/publisher to get every single game on their platform.

The only way to stop this from happening is having a huge player base, it will make Sony have to pay more for exclusive deals and it will make devs want to not miss out on the sales on Xbox.

And as for timed exclusives? Xbox is not against them, otherwise Stalker 2 would have been multiplatform. It’s only two months, which is nothing compared to what Sony is doing. Wonder why Xbox didn’t lock it down for a year, just not worth the money? Also, can we see Stalker 2 as AAA? I’d say so after seeing that trailer.

Timed deals from Xbox are tiny compared to PS, both from a budget stadpoint (they are all ID@Xbox, even STALKER) and timeframe (they are almost all under 1 year).

Everyone is also forgetting for around 6 months of this year Xbox had a timed exclusive with Cyberpunk 2077. Sure it was because Sony delisted it from their platform, but still …
