Because alot of it comes of as bad-faith concern posting over the remake of a 15+ year old game you could play right now on your Xbox…

Over an IP that never belonged to Microsoft in the first place.

That was ported to mobile phones, and Nintendo Switch.

Idk and we probably will never know. My point is just because Microsoft has a shit ton of money doesn’t mean they can spend it infinitely on third party deals. Especially ones Sony is bidding for too and were clearly dead set on it.

Let’s say exclusivity for KOTOR was $100M paid by Sony. Microsoft would need to pay more than that and include it in game pass which may be like $180M total. That’s a ridiculous amount. That’s +18M GP subs not including other revenue sources to recoup the cost during the exclusivity window.

Obviously it probably didn’t cost as much, but the general idea stands

Yes it will cost Xbox more in the bidding war for exclusive from 3rd party but still i think it worth it to pay a little more but anyways KOTOR Remake is like 2-3 years away things might change overtime and it might not even be exclusive if MS open that bank account.

Just found out that the Uncharted 4/Lost Legacy PS5/PC remastered port is being developed by Iron Galaxy. Guessing this is the game that they were contractually obligated to complete. If they’re done with contractual obligations, I would think that Microsoft goes gets them to develop Killer Instinct 2.

Jeez people need to relax in here. One can say that kotor remake being a timed Sony exclusive is a big deal, but at the same time say that Microsoft is killing it. Both can be true.

Do I think Microsoft dropped the ball in this case a bit…. Probably. But maybe Sony just paid out the ass to do it because Microsoft is up their ass.

Whatever it is what it is. I’m a huge fan of KOTOR. My favorite game series go in this order: halo, then mass effect, than KOTOR. I was so looking forward to this, so ya I’m a bit biased in discussing the game.

I still think Microsoft is killing it. Halo and forza coming up this year. With back for blood on gamepass too. And all the bangers that have hit gamepass these last couple months. They are killing it.

…me zero sum game and no matter how much you guys want to spin it, KOTOR never had anywhere near the reach that a game like Oblivion, Skyrim, or Fallout has had. I guarantee when most of the Sony fans find out it’s an RPG, especially if it retains its D&D rulebase, they’re going to bail because statistically those games don’t sell well on PS. So spare us the “I know more than a $2 trillion company because some Youtuber/blogger/Twitter personality said so” takes. Last I checked, as even tweeted, the roadmaps for both are looking pretty damn great, and with so many unannounced projects I’d wager Xbox is going to be looking even better than the source of your worries in the next 18 months. If it hasn’t sunk in why there are so many moneyhats from Sony yet, I don’t know what will make it so…

exactly, but it always has to be why cant xbox have what they have. Literally alot of their pipeline has not even been shown yet

Disney probably wanted a price for timed exclusivity that Microsoft thought the funds would be better used to get the makers of KOTOR II to just do the same damn style of game as an IP they could own.

all of this fuss just for Star wars IP and not for the gameplay style or style of the game
