XboxEra Community Hangout |OT2| Cracking down on shitposting

Streaming will be the standard some day, right now it’s just a cool option.

Will take a while until we all game comfortably through streaming.

I don’t feel like checking it all out. Summary?

Crackdown 3 on switch, xCloud on airplanes.

I get the point you are going after, but it will always be an us vs them thing until everything is available on or in the same place. I don’t see Nintendo offering to stream their games on any device much less an Xbox. I believe Playstation has game streaming, but for only older games, but I don’t see them offering up Horizon and God of War on everything including an Xbox so why should Xbox be playing nice bringing Xbox stuff to them, even if it is streaming. Which is a long way away from being viable for most people due to poor internet in most areas, but still it gives someone else more options. I fully support the utopian gaming vision where everybody plays everything on anything, but it can’t be a one way street. It has to be every game on everything or it still us vs them. You need things to draw people to your platform, service, or hardware not just meet them where they are at. Xbox has already taken that big step by offering streaming on phones, tablets, and soon PC’s. And releasing their games natively on PC. (Me personally I wouldn’t have sold my games on steam. I would have improved my own store and made it more attractive to users, but oh well) as for your 2nd point about wanting your stuff on everything you own that doesn’t really count as a valid argument as we all want stuff we can’t have on things we want them on. I would rather play Spider-man and horizon on my Xbox rather than having to buy a Playstation. I would rather the Office had stayed on Netflix becasue I don’t want another subscription. Just like video streaming services and games until everyone is on board it will always be an us vs them thing becasue these are all businesses with one purpose make their product, or service appealing enough to make tons of money of it. I fully back where you want gaming though for real I wish I could buy one service/device and play everything I wanted on it on release day. I commend Xbox for taking the first steps, but you can’t be too nice when your competitors are still playing to crush you. I saw you mentioned that Xcloud is already on Cell phones and tablets why would it hurt to add it to switch. My counter argument is it’s already on cellphones tablets and soon PC, why should Xbox spend any energy or goodwill towards anyone else? Aren’t phones and tablets enough?

Xbox fans better sooner than later get used to seeing Game Pass on every device with a modern browser, be it an Android or iOS phone, a fridge, a PS5 or a Switch.

And of course Xbox users, or better Game Pass subscribers, benefit from it, more subscribers meens bigger Game Pass budget and more 3rd party publishers convinced of the service. And bigger Game Pass budget meens more, better and bigger games on Game Pass day 1. And this doesn’t take a long time like we see now with Outriders and MLB.

Ask yourself this, do you think it likely that the people in charge of these decisions have already considered these concerns?

Im not talking about a utopia where everything is available to everyone. I am talking about streaming working how streaming works.

I can stream Netflix to an Amazon Fire stick, I can stream Apple Music to an android phone. Restricting access to streaming services will only harm the service. It also leaves the door open for a competitor to fill that niche.

You guys are comparing xbox’s streaming service to a lack of streaming service from their competitors. That is last generation thinking. If you could stream Nintendo games to your phone or TV we wouldn’t even be having thos discussion.

Can you guys move this topic to thread created for it? It’s worn out it’s welcome here (for me at least).

Is the Xbox Series X bandwidth usage page broken or what?

I’ve just looked at mine and apparently my Xbox is using 150 TB an hour, and 560 TB in the past hour!

It says I’ve used 7300 TB this period and 22,000 TB last month.

wtf.

Announce FF7 remake release at the same time

“Play as Cloud, on the Cloud…among the clouds”

That is fine, if the true focus is Gamepass the service not Xbox the platform that is great. Just drop Xbox entirely, the Console, the platform, and the brand. Become a third party in the video game business and just offer Gamepass on everything including Playstation and Nintendo. That would save them tons of money to add more games to gamepass as they won’t be wasting money on development of hardware, marketing and the like. The whole situation is literally the same as Netflix offering their own Smart TV that they try to market it as something important that you need, while offering Netflix apps on every other smart TV at the same time. Either Xbox matters or it doesn’t. That is what many people are feeling like with that news. If Xbox matters to them they need to be doing everything they can to make it the most appealing place to play games and consume content otherwise drop it. As I have said I am a bit in the middle as I see both sides to this argument. It’s cool that they wabt games everywhere, but when you are the only one wanting that right now you are helping your competitors. They all have to be on the same page or someone is getting an advantage. I agree with you guys why does it matter if Xbox games come to PC if you only play Xbox it doesn’t affect you and it doesn’t. Are there some PS or Nintendo fans that would have bought an Xbox instead sure. Are there some that wouldn’t play an Xbox game either way sure there are. The thing i am against is making it easier to play Xbox games on Nintendo and PS hardware while not bringing anything to Xbox itself. You know what would sell more gamepass subscriptions than offering it on Nintendo? Offering all of Nintendo’s games in gamepass!! All I am saying is Xbox has moved to the middle enough for now time for the other companies to start meeting us there.

Wow, wtf. That all?

At first I thought something truly big happened or something, haha.

Do you know how stupid it is to put your premier service on consoles that eat your market share. Gamepass is the service but xbox wants you to play on xbox or somewhere they get the most profit from like phones or pc.

If Microsoft has to put this service on competing platforms to give us better games and options then we are absolutely doomed already. Just be a third party developer at this point if thats the end goal. Become the new sega for all we care.

What do you think the point of a streaming service is?

The xbox hardware exists because (1) not everyone wants to stream and (2) because we are in a transition period.

If people being able to play Xbox games without buying the console is a problem for you, you are on the wrong platform.

Play them on phone or via a browser simple. At one point too much generosity is foolish and detrimental.

Thanks.

I’ve checked my broadband account and I’m averaging less than a TB a month so I needn’t have worried.

Please move the discussion to it’s own thread:

Yes they do irrelevant of what people tell you here. Same way 1st party games performance has to come in hand with decent sales to justify future entries even with the GP blanket.

Ruh roh Raggy more it’s getting spicy again
