So if the majority of the users have access to a smartphone, we are okay with them playing the games there. Yet, if they also own a Switch (a handheld device more convenient for playing games) we are not okay with them using that one. Does that really make sense to you?
With support for Android and iOS, MS has effectively given the entire gaming community the ability to access their games. Why should we force people to use specific devices for it?
Wont understand actively defending and advocating this Nintendo-Xbox nonsense as if Nintendo be letting Xbox players play Smash, Mario Kart, etc over here.
The big issue for most everyone upset, is that Xbox would be helping to make a competitors device better giving it more value while not gaining any improvement to their own device. I have seen the argument that it would be more subscribers, but that doesnât do a thing for people who own an Xbox. I have seen the more money coming in argument, that it leads to more games for Xbox owners in the longrun, but that could take years and doesnât necessarily translate to more money for games. Microsoft is already one of the richest companies in the world they can and already are spending more money on studios and games that unfortunately take years and years to come to fruition. Up until recently Microsoft hasnât been willing to spend money to make Xbox better so the average Xbox owner could probably not care less if they are making more money. The ideal situation that should be pursued is that Nintendo has hundreds of games that could be leveraged to add more games and value to an Xbox console right now and make more money in the long run. They shouldnât be willing to play so nice with direct competition unless that competition is willing to do the same. If Nintendo wants Halo or Sea of Thieves, thats cool send us Smash Brothers and Zelda. PS wants Hears of War, Halo and Hellblade 2? Sweet send us God of War, Horizon, and Spider-Man. It should be I scratch your back you scratch mine. Right now it seems like Xbox is the only one willing to scratch and that is fine and noble, but they need to bring the others on board before helping them.
The problem with this argument is that it is rooted in us vs them from a console perspective. The reality is, with game streaming⌠everyone (that is okay with streaming games) is us.
We have multiple devices in various form factors, phones, TVs, tablets, existing portable consoles. I want to access the services I am paying for on all of the devices most convenient to me.
@pg2g I totally agree with your line of thinking on this.
Why is it ok for people to access the Xbox ecosystem through one device but not another? At the end of the day, the person will have to give Xbox money to access the games & so is still becoming an Xbox user, arenât they? Why is it ok if they do it through their phone but not through their Switch? Either way, they still bought into the Xbox ecosystem.
As I said earlier, this is something that we Xbox fans are going to have to come to terms with. Like it or not, Xbox is moving outside of a single walled garden & doing things differently. Hell, it already has! Weâre well past those first steps at this point!
Putting all the Xbox games on PC, even making PC exclusives? Cool.
Selling games on Steam? Cool.
Putting everything on Game Pass & through Xcloud, putting it all in the hands of anyone with even a halfway decent phone? Cool.
Putting Xcloud on Switch? Whoa there! Slow down! I donât like that!
âŚ
Why? Why is that the line? Because it makes the Switch look more appealing? So what? Why is that a bad thing?
Anyway, I think a lot of you are over-thinking this. Itâs probably not even remotely related to xCloud. We donât really have anything to support that.
