Using phrases like ‘Most Anticipated’ for Scarlet Nexus shows the general low standard of these outlets.

I remember one od these ppl Easy Allies or GI (cant recall) mention at the beginning of xbox’s show last year that Balan Wonderworld was the best game Xbox showed. SMH.

not really sure about going there tbh, everyone has their preferences, maybe this game specifically tickles all the things he or she likes, not like they’re representing this game as the whole organization’s most anticipated game anyway.

But yeah about the Balan Wonderland one, yikes lmao

tickling your fancy is ok when you are a regular youtuber. But if you are running GI/EA, the lot, Bamco’s SN favoured over so many others including Sony’s offerings is an interesting take - to say the least.

I suspect these folks don’t play as much as you would think.

Btw, from a gameplay perspective I like Rand’s take on such things. That dude is on a million gamerscore, and speaks like a craftsman on what is clicking in each game. He was beating Returnal like he is on a picnic, and was concurrently telling Phil about it. Hehe.

Obviously, there’s a lot of 8/16 bit pixel based games that are of high quality so of course, the visuals don’t guarantee quality. I go based on the development studio, publisher, history and if it’s a game within a franchise, how have the previous games been?

So while im not buying Rift Apart because of only the visuals, it definitely doesn’t hurt that the game also looks amazing.

And on the flip side, Valhalla looks amazing too but im not enjoying that anywhere near as much as I did Origins and Odyssey. It is what it is.

2021, which the review even has in the title. It’s that whole “how do you review live service games things”. One approach is to go back and look at them after a few years and see how they’ve evolved. It’s a simple concept. Tougher to go back to something and update a review as places like YouTube force a full re-upload anyways.

Some notes:

  • Mojang is working on 2 new games
  • also, just me, but I would consider these GAAS games as projects as these are in active development with active fundings:
  1. TESO
  2. FO76
  3. Sea of Thieves (expected to be a 10-year project)
  4. Flight Sim (10-year project too)
  5. Minecraft (Caves & Cliffs is going to be the game’s most ambitious update ever)
  6. Minecraft Dungeons
  7. To a lesser extent, AoE II and AoE III

MS is definitely working on a ton of projects (plus surprises !)
