at this point depends on the studio making it. if MP Only then release date will be 2023

I guess they could have two teams. They released doom in 2016. Quake champions in 2017 and then doom eternal in 2020. Maybe they have been working on a new quake game for a few years?

I guess it could be shown at e3 if that is indeed true.

While this is a valid opinion (it’s yours, after all), I think it’s a rather simplistic one. A game could still have amazing dialogue, full of charm, even if the protagonist is silent. It all depends on the quality of the writing. A silent protagonist doesn’t, can’t, in my opinion, invalidate amazing writing and story. A game is more than the sum of its parts, after all.

Link is a silent protagonist, and that hasn’t stopped the character from being one of the more iconics ever in a videogame, and the series from being one of the most popular. There is nuance to be found here.

I’d much rather prefer a game with a silent protagonist and great writing, than a vocal protagonist like Outriders, with the writing and dialogue being very poor, in my opinion. Every time the protagonist spoke in Outriders I was always like:

Because every time they spoke it was always something that made me cringe.

Yeah, the voice acting in Outriders was terrible.

That said, i really could do without character creation in the first place lol. I guess its a taple in WRPGs tho.

That reminds me of the Crackdown game mods.

Todd also said biggest engine overhaul since Oblivion. So that sounds promising. But…he’s a great dude, but man did he tell some fables when presenting Fallout 76 about the sixteen times more detail or whatever. At times he really does exeggerate or well…lie too, sadly. But that was for 76. I don’t remember him overpromising things in the Fallout 4 deep dive or when demoing Skyrim.

Oh, there’s also the new animation system, something that is very, very welcome!

Oohhh, nice way to say, we don’t pay shit for your stupid digital event. Just kidding. But nice to see they are working on games again.

I never played a bethesda game studios game because of they’re very ancient technology. Animations we’re already bad when the games released and very typical for PC games. So I am very skeptical of those claims, especially after fallout 76. They would need to make gigantic leaps to attract me to their games. So hoping for the best, but I remain cautious for now.

You should play one

Oblivion is still my favourite game of all time, since it released in 2006… :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Some people here talk about BGS games like they are absolutely monolithic pieces of trash to play.

perfect time to post this instant classic

I will, when they get they’re technology to a certain minimum. And to be clear, I don’t need the most stunning game on the planet but when I see indie studios doing better animations than a triple a studio whose games sell 30million + copies, something is wrong.

Three almost zero reason why any AAA game should not have a voiced protagonist. Dialogue tree games should be voiced. Doesn’t fallout 4 give the choice to turn off the protagonists voice? My favorite rpg series of all time is mass effect. I couldn’t imagine it with shepherd not being voiced.
