XboxEra Community Hangout |OT14| New News? NEW THREAD

My guess is more people on holiday and it’s the post-E3 slump, everyone binged on news during that period and are now just chilling out and playing games waiting for the new stuff.

I’ve no doubt if there’s layoffs tomorrow it’ll get busy again (some of the posters who only show up every 6 months will drop by to tell us why it shows how Xbox is dead or ABK was the worst purchase ever, and how Sony are doing things the right way).

It does seem to get busier during bad news - and Xbox for the most part hasn’t had so much of it recently and has been giving us a ton of games to play.

Think it’ll really pick up after summer again regardless of good or bad news, as we head into loads of releases for all platforms, all the shows (GamesFest, Game Awards) and everyone’s back from holidays… In the meantime I may even join the Discord (only time I’ve ever used it my younger brother was on it and I felt like an old man despite having grown up with Yahoo Chat, ICQ and MSN Messenger!)

Thanks for the summary man! :folded_hands:t2:

My only answer to all that is a crystal clear…

So done with just Xbox negativity in general, because in my eyes they are doing great.

I am too. The forums outside of here (gafs, eras, etc) are shitting on Xbox more than ever.

It was traffic heavy last week, but with the upcoming holiday and yesterday was rather quiet aside from Halo Studios announcing the game they’re working on will be presented at their show.

It’s just boring at this point. I think it offends me less that people hate Xbox and more that it’s just the same repetition of the same stale talking points over and over. At least it can be entertaining to read a real person’s opinion. The stuff that gets posted about Xbox now may as well just be bots.

GTA 6 will be a huge boon to the Videogame industry. Xbox better be ready to have consoles on the shelf. Allowing people to build thier own Xbox PC could give them an advantage (assuming proper availability).

Videogame doom and gloom is going to disappear for a couple years. GTA 6 could propel the new Xbox PC instantly to the mainstream.

I always wonder about this. Like, why would someone who wants to play GTA6 wait only for the day it gets released to buy a new console? I doubt people will buy an Xbox or a PS5 only for that one game and knowing it’s coming, my guess is people would already have bought the console anyway.

I was on the bandwagon of Xbox won’t have consoles ready and miss out, but now I’m thinking maybe the console market is saturated and GTA6 won’t give it the uplift we think it will and the game won’t reach the sales of its predecessor.

I think it’s mostly about the people still on PS4 and Xbox 1, especially the ones that play GTA5 so much that it’s still so high on playtime.

Number 6 on most played games on Xbox in the US.

With GTA Online for the Series X/S at number 10.

That’s a good point - if the new Xbox hybrid (one that can actually play console games, not the new Ally) is out before GTA6, and it’s pretty much a PC (or as discussed you can possibly even build your own) it may get a lot of interest from PC players.

Many are pretty annoyed Rockstar is once again ditching them for a year or so in favour of consoles, and while some might just pick up a PS5, those who need to upgrade anyway may be very much tempted by the Xbox PC…

People know it’ll come to PC, I doubt PC players will cave in on an expensive console instead of waiting a year.

I think Rockstar is hoping for people double dipping, but I think times have changed and people will wait for the PC release.

I’m unsure, while I’m very much a “GTA is overrated” person I know a couple of PC-only gamers who would certainly be up for building an Xbox-PC or buying a hybrid if it’s high-level in order to play it sooner - and a couple of friends on last gen consoles who will be buying new consoles purely for GTA6.

This is despite me telling them all that GTA drives worse than PS1 Driver and shoots worse than Duke Nukem 3D and hasn’t ever really improved despite literally every other game doing so, and calling them stupid for liking it :stuck_out_tongue:

Can’t figure out why they won’t listen to me!

(But seriously, they all like Forza Horizon and CoD or Halo, how on earth do they cope playing that unresponsive slop?!)

The Xbox/PC hybrid is one thing as if you are a PC gamer and can add more functionality with Xbox integration, I think it makes a lot of sense.

I don’t know how many are still on last gen, I know in my circle there aren’t any (most actually being on PC) but I don’t think there are 10-15 million gamers in hiding waiting for GTAVI before moving to next gen, although we don’t really have numbers from anyone except some insiders that have said half of players are still on last gen, but I don’t know how much weight we can put behind those numbers.

The Xbox 360 ads for Series S/X tell me that they probably have some players on older gens still to upgrade or else they wouldn’t be doing them. But what confuses me is why MS seems to want people to upgrade but don’t have the hardware available in stores for people to buy?

It makes no sense.

They (and Sony) are at the point of the generation where the money people expect good margins. That means cutting down costs, so Xbox has essentially given up on mass hardware adoption. Sony has raised prices twice, cut down severely on first-party studio releases.

Wasn’t Sony the source for some of that - giving out their monthly user numbers and confirming half are still on PS4 (I guess to highlight sales still to come)?

I kinda believe it as while many family / friends have gone PS5 (and one or two along with me to Series consoles) and a few to PC, I know three close friends all still on One (two upgraded from 360s to Ones in the last few years lol).

Part of it is cost - it’s been an expensive few years and they have families, but also support for the previous generation has been better than ever (although Sony did the “we believe in generations” line that made some fanboys I know upgrade, Xbox never lied and so they knew they’d continue to be supported for a while) and with Game Pass they’ve so much to play.

I’ve been talking up the Series S, but now suggesting possibly wait for next gen (not least as I may gift my Series X) as to be honest other than the loading times their current consoles still work and still play the games they and their kids want to play - even Halo Infinite and Forza Horizon 5.

GTA6 will only make one of them upgrade, but as more big games finally become current gen only the other 2 may follow - but I’m honestly thinking we’ll be in next gen and they’ll pick up used Series consoles…

Kind of sad that Switch 2 got their own “Is it AI?” question. For every release, mainly third party titles, they question if it’s a game card or not.

Agreed.

We’ll see how it all goes but one thing is certain - im way more hyped and excited for Xbox than most because what they’re planning to do is very different which is great and it’s exactly what I have wanted for decades.

I just hope that they don’t release the hardware until everything is setup and ready for launch. In other words, they just need to execute.

Even worse, the negativity is from those who dislike Microsoft/Xbox and don’t even play on the platform which not only makes no sense but they’re rarely accurate in what they’re talking about because they’re not into Microsoft/Xbox.

This 100%. It’s literally the same fucking bullshit everyday. It’s so fucking tiresome.

I don’t see GTA 6 being the big bang for consoles that so many people believe that it will be. Those who want to play the game (like me) already own one or both (like me) of the consoles. Will the game sell great? Sure but it will be the next generation remasters and PC port that allow it to sell long term along with of course, the main event for the game - GTA 6 online.
