For those to be aware it seems like Heirdling(Made by Okomotive the same studio who made indie hits like Far: Lone Sails and Far:Changing Tides) is looking to be game pass launch title for the second half of the month as well as a play anywhere game in addition to that, i just saw it on the xbox app on my phone

Yeah, it’s still the deep discount sale for me and I checked the deals page and I don’t see the RPG sale yet. It’s all of the sales i had for the past week . Ah well, I’m sure it’ll sort itself out soon.

If I go into the deal section of the store, I see deepest discount, ultimate add on thq nordic and handy games and the action/rpg sales.

If Anthem got any support that would’ve been nice. Bioware just did not know how to do live service and then EA quickly abandoned it. There were so many plans and promises for revival that were never fulfilled.

Nice. Completed The Dark Ages 100% back during launch. Game is freaking awesome and for me personally, the best Doom game ever simply because of how many different aspects there are gameplay and combat wise. I wonder if the expansion gets announced/revealed at Gamescom.

Maybe out of early access, which is crazy to think it still is.

Sales changed over today but there were already a few sales going on. I bought three games over the weekend. Outcast: A New Beginning ($22), Kingdoms of Amalur-Re-Reckoning Fate Edition ($14) and the original Titan Quest ($6) which released on PC in 2006 and then got a remastered port to PS4/XBO in 2018 if I remember correctly. Bought it because Early Access for Titan Quest 2 started last week on PC and am really looking forward to it hitting consoles. It’s also one of several games that makes me really hope Microsoft nails their Xbox/PC hybrid because not only would I still have all the benefits of Xbox like I do now but also, I would have my all in one console AND I would be able to buy Early Access editions of games like Titan Quest 2 if I wanted to. Simply having the option available to me regardless of if I take advantage of it or not would be awesome!!

I got a Dualsense as I’m playing some PS games on PC. I’ve used one before but not to this extent/as I like.

I think the combination of the Dualsense and Horizon Forbidden West really highlights something for me.

First, the positives (and they are many, this is not a gripe about DS or FW per se): the features of the Dualsense are cool. They add some immersion and sometimes feel very realistic (the layering of audio in certain situations between my speakers/pad speaker is cool). Similarly, FW is beautiful and fun to play, with lots to do and explore.

The DS however, is not some new way of playing or experiencing. It’s an additive, a procedural improvement - though fundamentally my Elite pad is my preferred choice not because of tech, but because of simple design. Similarly, FW is not new, but rather a continuation of now-established devices with some shiny dressing.

Neither of these are criticisms, or meant badly. Many, many things are like this.

What it reminds me of, though, is how utterly tragically useless and annoying hype is. I can’t count the number of times I read on Resetera of ‘game changer’ things: how Dualsense is some Next Step, and that PS5 was ‘revolutionary’ etc. FW is anything but revolutionary. It’s incredibly, aggravatingly conservative, even as it’s still fun.

I quite see why people like these things. I do myself. I don’t blame Sony for hyping stuff - they want money.

What I cannot stand is hype merchant froth. It’s totally useless, and sucks where ever it happens. We knew this already, but after playing more current-gen PS games with the pad, it’s striking how fundamentally the same every experience is - not just on PS, but everywhere, with narrow ranges of variability within. I love many things in this world nevertheless, but the hype merchants need to grow up.

Agreed, I bought a DualSense when I upgraded my PC, so I could see what all the fuss was about.

Had to keep it plugged in with a data USB C cable (as Sony don’t do a dongle to get the speaker, haptics and adaptive triggers working wirelessly, which feels like a major oversight) and to be honest the triggers were mostly meh.

Yes the tension when drawing a bowstring was cool, and the haptics were decent enough, but in most games the speaker just irritated me and I turned it off - the best implementation for me was Deathloop, with the gun jamming on the adaptive triggers, the radio playing out over the controller speaker and the haptics being decent.

PlayStation’s own games made decent enough use, but nowhere near as innovative - and overall it was a “that’s neat” feeling for a few games, and most were just “this controller layout isn’t as comfortable as my Xbox one” so I ended up swapping back to my Series X controller…

Haven’t plugged the DS back in in months now - guess I might the next time I play a big PS game that actually makes good use of it, but honestly yeah it feels a bit gimmicky apart from for a few games, and I much prefer playing with the Xbox one

It’s funny you guys are talking about the PS5 controller because I’ve been playing GranBlue Fantasy VS Rising recently and decided I hate using PS5 controller for fighting games. Obviously I mostly game on Xbox so this was a bit of a surprise to me since PS is supposedly the place to play fighters . Anyway, it was a good excuse to go controller shopping and another thing ended up surprising me…. Xbox has way way more third party controller options. I guess I didn’t realize how spoiled we were. There are so many controller options on Xbox I have to stop myself from over shopping lol

Anyway I settled on getting a PlayStation Access controller from Walmart for $50. Looking forward to trying it out. The circular design might be fun for a fighting game.

Hilarious timing.

Just the latest in a long line of console gimmicks that were supposed to change the game and become indispensable, only to be forgotten.

Every once in a while, the new hotness is actually worthwhile, like Quick Resume and Smart Delivery.

Another trash article with no single data or coherency. If anything, Xbox has become a goldmine for this dying media. I had totally forgot Gamespot still even existed. This sounded like fanboy nonsense, AI would have done so much better. The question the article mentions is never even addressed all this was another article complaining about the Layoffs and Gamepass.

Thanks for the summery, as I wasn’t planning on clicking on it.

“But people should be upset legacy gaming media is dying”… please, I’m counting the seconds until this divisive, and equally-baseless, console-war drivel is no longer being shoved down our throats.

I also want to add, this is after we’ve seen an uprecedented uptick in developers/publishers supporting Xbox that previously never had… I’m sorry, but the moment all the Ziff Davis and co media die off, the gaming world will be infinitely better off. There is no difference in tactics and methodology, than political media ignoring an ongoing dictatorial coup to talk about tan suits… All corporate media is there to sell you shit from their biggest advertisers and distract you from the actual issues (in gaming industry’s case, the fact that the leading platform holder has effectively crashed during this entire generation and the industry at large is in massive turmoil).

I tried to read it, and even trying not to react defensively from an Xbox fan perspective, I’m legitimately not sure what point they’re trying to make. It’s a grab bag of “things about Xbox I don’t like” with no connection made to why any of those negative things would make you less confident to invest in purchases in the ecosystem.
