I’m also pretty sure the credits for Astro Bot are massive and not ‘a small team’.
Why didn’t Jason Schreier write articles about Nintendo who do have small teams, a very healthy business for their small and big games for decades and no layoffs.
Would that not be a better example for the whole industry than a publisher which released a highly acclaimed game and one of the biggest flops of the decade in a span of two weeks?
This, and honestly, it’s not that Astro Bot’s just getting nominated, it’s pretty much winning the GOTY without almost any doubt, only Rebirth could have a chance to steal it but the game being a part from a “remake” makes me think it won’t happen.
I agree racing games not being nominated is unfair, and it was in 2021, but that isn’t about brands, AFAIK no racing game has ever been nominated? at least in the last years, i don’t understandd why tho
It’s a shame really you can just see how the media is pushing this game. There are no numbers out there other than metacritic and yet it’s already touted as successful. Sometimes I just think Microsoft are like why even try. Competing in the same bracket with PlayStation or Nintendo in the console industry is just filled with mines. I wonder is Astro Bot even selling. COD beta is out and there are games like Space Marine out that could easily make it a tough sell.

Evidently Jez on his podcast said the whole slate of FF is coming, including FF7, 16, and Pixel Remasters, but initially it’ll be 16 and pixel remasters.
To be fair, it wasn’t definitive “these are coming” statements. They were all prefaced with “I think” or similar language. Im sure he has heard things and isnt just guessing, but just wanted to add context.

Ill probably bite on pixel remasters if/when they do come. I own FF7R on PS5 and have never played it.

I’ll probably buy the FF stuff if it comes to Xbox but I’ll wait for sales since SE made us wait so long for them. I bought mana at full price but at least that came out at the same time as the rest.
I already own Remake on PC, so I’m hoping they’ll bundle all the available games together for a good price, depending on when it releases. I still think it’ll be when the 3rd game releases on PS5 or shortly after.
For FF7R I’m guessing the exclusivity agreement must be in place in some fashion until the 3rd game is out for sure unfortunately, although it’d be nice if the 3rd game came out everywhere at once and if they had a bundle like you said available on all systems for those that missed out.
