Shadowdrop, but this one used to pop up every now and then as supposedly available.

I think most people wanted to see at least one first party game in action

What is general census on the SoP? I was a bit surprised to hear what one of the YouTuber I followed had to say. The console sale may be great but their output is truly the most disappointing, calling it Sony’s weakest generation. Crazy to think when you look back on PS3, we got like 4 NEW titles from Naughty Dog alone. Now, we’re lucky to get even one.

I think it was a good show overall for gamers, but not so much for “Playstation gamers”. I mean for all of the negativity regarding Xbox putting games on PS, now we can sort of see it’s either that or nothing.

I think some of this is probably because this gen is likely done. MS and Sony are probably prepping for next gen.

I don’t know that there is one. The reactions I’ve seen are all over the place. Positive and negative extremes. I guess this show didn’t really have any big “crowd pleasers.” The games were for specific tastes and they either appeal to you or don’t.

I’ve seen people who really like quirky Japanese titles posting that it was the strongest State of Play ever. And then the next post is “Snoozefest, I didn’t see anything I liked.”

I get some of the reactions, though I don’t agree with those about “Bloodborne 2” or “Remastered.” It’s not like I need them to satisfy me. I just want a better presentation, pacing, and sensation. I remember when they show GoW for the first time; it felt like a big deal. I know they sort of did that here but with interviews. I don’t know, that’s not what I would have done. The reason Xbox got attacked back then was because of the interviews in a big show. A game may not interest many, so best to save it elsewhere, especially if it’s a genre that is the lowest denominator compare to others.

It’s pretty obvious Sony wants to cash in heavily on the last game, especially with Rivals despite that one is free or more “appealing to all” sensation, and I hope it does well, but the buzz is only minimal as it is “niche” target. If anything, they should have saved it for EVO but again, they want to get everyone into it.

When it comes to third party games, they’re good no doubt but don’t have that strong flair that they used to have back then like when they revealed RE2 Remake or FFVII Remake. They’re now going elsewhere, including Xbox, who used to rely on smaller ones. Time has changed and I understand things aren’t the same with first party output, but something needs to change.

I would say that at least for me, Sony’s published games have been of a higher quality than last generation but quantity wise, they’re releasing less games than last generation. As my secondary gaming console this generation, they’re easily the best “second” that I have ever had so in all honesty, I can’t complain.

Yep let Xbox players experience the disappointment too lol

(bought them after upgrading my PC, they’re OK but there’s just so many better games coming out I have to force myself back to slog my way through - I feel FF only does well when it has tight pacing and a strong story, or there’s not much else coming out at the same time)

I suspect if you’re not into Japanese titles (usually quirkier than mainstream) or fighting games (which many aren’t), or expected PlayStation during “E3” to at least have something first party to show, then you’d be really disappointed…

EDIT: Also I suspect streamers / games media are much more likely to either like one of those genres or not have expected much first party - hence the disconnect from the opinion of so many of them compared to many of the gamers answering the polls

I feel like they should have done this SoP last week to avoid some of the comparisons that will inevitably occur.

Nice. I am definitely interested in the Suda game and I thought the 007 game looked pretty cool too. Wish the Marvel game was multiplat but oh well. Show was a solid C+ for me.

At least it was an improvement over last year based on past poll, though I don’t remember what was last year. If I recall correctly, it was Xbox that carried them and thus, everyone opened their eyes. That said I hope that would mean tomorrow’s SGF is a lot better than last year’s.

:index_pointing_up:t2: They are pretty wild, as we all know by now. But this…is a different league of wild. Sheesh. :backhand_index_pointing_down:t2:

I guess the standards were so low that a 99% multiplatform show that wasn’t a complete snoozefest is considered “amazing” now.

As a multiplatform show it was a C+ but as a “SGF” show from a platform holder it was very disappointing IMO, as someone earlier wrote if this was an SGF-Not E3 Xbox show…oh boy…but now that it’s a Sony show some journalists and a part of the PS community are trying to convince themselves that it was not a bad Playstation show. :stuck_out_tongue:

Now that I think about it, if you’re still into the platform exclusive, this would heightened your disappointing further. Not one is coming only on PS5. Only Ghost is yet that one only advertise its next presentation. If you have that expectation, I can see why the reactions.

Every other game from yesterday is coming to Xbox? I understand this right?

Was thinking about that yesterday, if going third party is what it takes for Sony to finally stop with exclusivity deals, I’m all for it. There is no point in it anymore for Sony too.

I mean ONLY on PS5. Not even on PC. But because of new announced titles are PC day one, this pissed many off.

Ooooh I see. I guess we’re not there yet then. Then again, Xbox isn’t either, isn’t Space Marine remaster Xbox only right now?

As of now, yes. That part is still funny to me. Anyway, I don’t know if it’s because it’s a fighting game, but maybe PS is opening up to more day one PC release as it is the latest announcement. But again, perhaps it’s due to the genre.
