This is my thing too - all the while I’ve been told by these talking heads that Xbox sucks, there’s nothing to play, etc. I’ve managed to put more time on my Xbox than my PC, PS4, PS3, and Switch combined (and that includes all those games I beat last year on those systems). If you’re a GP subscriber, that point hits home even more, as we’ve had a constant stream of new content, from Xbox and third-parties. Basically, the games media and zeitgeist have been that “Stop Having Fun’ meme simply because it’s not what they want you to enjoy or fall in line with - it’s literally the point of the vitriol they levy at the fandom and org.
all this “doom and gloom” about xbox is making me do the opposite of “selling my xbox and getting a ps5 pro”, i think i might actually get one of those Elite controllers, just been put off by how much i hear about them breaking. Also thinking about getting one of those snazzy Starfield themed external drives and start downloading my huge ass library ive built up on xbox through the years
Just make sure if you have young kids to put you elite controller away. I had zero issues with mine until my youngest dropped it on the floor! Master Chief edition as well, literally broke my heart!
I’ve had zero issues with any of my three, one of which is a V1 that’s still rocking perfectly. I know I’m rare in that company but v2 is fine; my wife had to replace hers after four years and likely close to 5000 hours of play time (only slightly exaggerating here).
I would argue it’s already one of the worst purchases regardless of Marathon. We’re talking about the team that is responsible for the cancellation of several games in Sony’s stable right before their own floundered and has yet to pull itself back up, and for which a massive amount of the studio has been let go in the last three years, and an ongoing legal battle regarding Bungie’s sexual/racial discrimination. If this was Xbox, the media and a few here would be calling for heads to roll.
I believe that Bungie looked at Factions and Spider Man online game as huge threats and said, “nah, Sony, they ain’t it” but then looked at Fairgames, Concord, their own Marathon, laughed and then said, “yeah, Sony, these games are the games that will make you money”.
I don’t think there was malicious intent behind their guidance, I just think the people running the studio and behind these reviews had no clue what they were doing
Looking down the road, when we’re on the other side of this transition by Xbox, I cannot help but wonder what console warriors are going to set their sights on.
Toxic personalities, even when they grow up to be journalists, don’t just change. Where are they going to put that energy?
If I send someone to you to look over something and you’re thinking that I want to sabotage it and the person I send doesn’t know shit, wouldn’t you see that as being the same thing?
I think the reported issue with Factions was that they didn’t want to devote enough of the studio that would be required to sustain it properly. Seems reasonable, but probably should have thought that one through lol.
True, and they paid a premium for them. I don’t think they were worth anywhere close to that. Plus, they’ve invested in a Destiny tv show/film. You’re right because the media coverage would look much different if they weren’t owned by Sony imo.
