XboxEra Community Hangout |OT13| The Bakers Dozen

Maybe for some people

For others it’s already there and that will only increase over the next few years

Switch had to combine their handhelds/home consoles to make the switch so it might end up as the highest selling but its still less overall than their handhelds/home consoles combined that they used to do

The PS5 is down while costs are skyrocketing

Streaming will definitely take a while to be at the mainstream level movies/music is but consoles are not in a good place long term, if it’s not streaming, it will be PC that continues to take over or a combination of the two

Costs for consoles are getting extremely high with less and less reasons to upgrade with diminishing returns and games being available on more platforms than ever

Just because people spend absurd money on phones doesn’t mean they will do the same for consoles especially when games will continue to be available on Series/PS5 for the better part of the next decade

Saw Klobrille talking about it on Twitter as well. Some speculated if this is a Sony thing, a contract thing. But then, didn’t they market it for GP before already?

Insiders have claimed there are limitations on the marketing, and (from people who care more than I do) it appears to be marketed on Xbox channels and not marketed on Activision/COD channels.

Most of the time, if something that seems like a no brainer doesn’t happen, they’re is a reason for it that we aren’t aware of.

All depends on how you define and specify “they”. Microsoft and Xbox, yes. Activision and COD websites, yes (GamePass featured right at the top and below). COD YouTube Channel, no?

Oh I like those. Straight to the point. Plus, doesn’t hurt to have something to watch.

Basically, only without a host and “gnarly” readings.

Lol if poor financial performance has made WB do Hogwarts Legacy DLC when they didn’t plan to then I’m happy - one of my games of this generation so always happy to play more of it.

Will help tide me over the long wait till the sequel anyway

Luckily, based on rumor, it will be available separately. But this does reek of “medic!” button. But hey, good for those who likes the game.

Nice. Was thinking this would happen since there’s a new trailer for Expedition 33 which is 5 days from now so I can see Partner Preview being Wednesday.

How do you think Ps6 will be priced in lets say 4 years? Sony and AMD could not get the cost down for a rather modest performance improvement for the Pro. How will this change in 4 years. TSMC projections for silicon costs dont show that.

And wasn’t PS5 was more expensive than PS4 Pro?

Very weird indeed. I wonder if there’s a contract agreement as part of the deal that they can’t advertise COD on xbox. It seems like a no brainer to put xbox labelling everywhere and same with gamepass

I’m expecting the next Xbox console in Fall 2026 and PlayStation 6 console in Fall 2028 to be $800 with their respective portables releasing alongside the consoles for $500. The handheld will be the cheaper entry point.

PlayStation 4 was $400 in November 2013. PlayStation 4 Pro was $400 in November 2016 as the base model decreased to $300 with the Slim two months earlier. PlayStation 5 was $500 in November 2020. The real jump right now is the PlayStation 5 Pro at $700.

The $700 Pro price and the $600 Xbox Series X 2TB price is what makes me believe the next generation consoles will be $800 because you have to factor in a brand new CPU, more RAM, a better GPU and probably a 2TB SSD.

Xbox is beginning to feel like Cartman from Covid trilogy: being hated despite the ultimate sacrifice was done by him.

And also, this is hardly new… just funny that Sony takes it to the next level and yet again it’s an industry problem when it affects Sony… and only then.
