I truly wish that “arcade game collections” were the next big thing. Despite the attention that Capcom got recently for their fighting collections, I don’t think any other publisher will follow suit.

I don’t mind remakes at all but I don’t want remasters. Either remake the older games or don’t bother.

At least those games are at least two gens old, let alone some on handheld only. We got folks remastering games from last gen. Late last gen no less.

I actually deleted it but I started off my post by saying that I have zero problems remakes but I do have a problem with what they’re remaking. And then it evolved to some games really not needing to be remade and they just need to be put into modern collections like the Capcom games and then I ended up with that post :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

But yeah totally agreed.

It’s such a fun game too me, the only thing that I was frustrated with was trying to do the survival mode(I can’t remember if it had another a name), because I remember dying so much at the end of the first stage and having to restart from Lara falling down the hill.

Fun times, one day I want to try and actually do that mode.

Sounds about right.

I feel like Microsoft is making the right moves to evolve with the industry and not be left behind, as so often happens when there’s paradigm shifts within an industry.

The fact that they’re not #1 helps with this, as they have less to lose and less of a reason to try to cling to the old ways, and so them ditching the old model and embracing a new one sooner than the industry leader makes sense.

It remains to be seen if Sony can follow suit, or if they’re eventually going to join the ranks of Nokia, Blockbuster, Kodak, and so many other industry leaders who failed to move with the times.

I wouldn’t mind if more companies re-released their old games just in general. I’d rather buy them than have to resort to emulating the games that aren’t easily available.

The new DBZ game not having crossplay really blows.

Basically forced to get it on the ps5 because of it. Can’t believe I have to live like this in the year of 2024.

Completely agree! I don’t understand why releasing old games/collections (as @nrXic said) is not a thing for most of the publishers with classic IPs…one would think that with digital storefronts this should’ve been a given at this point but sadly we don’t see this.

Also got my retail copy of Metaphor earlier today! can’t wait to play this!

Exactly. The death of consoles won’t come when everyone can stream. It’ll come when enough people choose streaming that making a console isn’t worth the time, effort, and money.

Granted, even once a company pivots away from consoles there’ll still be money to be made from the markets where streaming isn’t viable, but I’m betting that’s where the handhelds come in. That’s a product category that is attractive worldwide and will continue to be so for a long time. So even when Microsoft isn’t making a living room console, they’ll still be able to go after those markets with a dockable handheld.

But what about people in those markets who prioritize fidelity? For them, there’s the PC. Which I’m guessing is another reason why Xbox has chosen to go day-and-date on that platform.

I’ve said it before, but I’m extremely bullish on Xbox and how they’re positioned for the next chapter of gaming. Right now they’re doing all the right things, and when the dust settles I’ll not be surprised if they’ve been handsomely rewarded for it.

Giving the Flight Sim 2024 technical test on PC a go.

It feels better for newbies like me (more help options etc) and the careers and jobs stuff looks pretty cool.

It even uses voice acting for characters in career - they read out my gamer tag which was weird lol - and you get to walk around the plane first, with the scenery looking pretty damn good given it’s not hand-drawn and not a first person shooter.

Menus are quicker too, and it gets you flying much faster with much shorter loading times than the last one - and the install size was tiny, just 10GB on PC for the technical test.

The ground is also much prettier - I chose an airport near me in a smaller British city, and they now use the right colours for the houses and buildings below me, and in the right places so it really feels like I’m flying over my area.

There’s still the odd glitch in the ground but it’s significantly better - and the free look drone / camera helps to find stuff (and can fully pause this time), for example when passing my licence I couldn’t see the parking spot but found it with the drone.

Also just reading the description, they’re going to have real-time live data of ship and air traffic, as well as modelling the whole world - that’s nuts, I’m thinking for example if someone you know is on a commercial flight or cruise liner you’d be able to follow their journey in the game!

I think this gen might be it for consoles as we have known it. The nextgen consoles will need to have a sizable jump in power from what we have now and that will come at a cost. Xbox is already selling the series X at 200 dollars loss unless they have managed somehow to reduce the cost. So basically, a series X would be 700 dollars at cost and a next gen version might cost upwards of a thousand bucks. The way it’s looking nextgen consoles might have to be premium consoles and I doubt that will appeal or be affordable to the casuals. To me I think at some point Xbox is going to migrate the Xbox console into the Xbox app which will then become the platform moving forward. I think form here on they will be ramping on getting the Xbox app to as many devices as possible to either play games natively or through the cloud. I would even suggest the multiplatform project is one to see how to integrate the app natively to other platforms so they can play the games there. The handhelds are probably what NextGen will be about as I assume they will be able to subsidize them.

Yeah. I need for Atlus to put out a Power Instinct collection already! Such a fun and weird as fuck fighting game series and more people should be able to play it! ( especially Matrimelee and Groove on Fight) Don’t get me started about Sega and the metric fuckton of arcade games that never got an official home release to this day.

Same here. I still need to finish shadow.

I didn’t get too far in Shadow and if I do return to it, I will have to start over because I don’t even remember what I did last.

Yeah, I think its wild not to have crossplay for a fighting game in 2024. It sucks for xbox because there’s no way community will be that large on xbox when most of the FGC is on playstation or PC

It’s Dragonball, I think you guys are underestimating how many Xbox dudes love DBZ

It’s also a super casual game compared to something like DBFZ or your usual competitive fighting games

No crossplay does suck and hopefully it gets added down the line considering how popular the game is/will be but there will be no shortage of people playing this on xbox

I am reminded that the last game had online with Wii only and it was like hell. Just be glad we got a working one now.

Tomb Raider 2013 for me. Amazing graphics and animation. It felt like a multiplatform Uncharted with even better shooting, albeit its storytelling was not as strong. Absolutely loved that game, the sequels just didn’t quite hit the same high for me.
