Yes, the list includes Sony…

It looks like they do have a fairly small amount of debt if you look at their financials that wsj has, but they do have a lot in current assets including cash on hand compared to that.

They don’t seem to have as strong of a longer term set of assets though (current makes up the majority of total) and while Sony does have liabilities including debt, they also have a lot more total assets than Nintendo. But it’s interesting that they have that much in cash. It speaks to a fairly conservative mindset, is sometimes seen as a sign that they aren’t willing to make investments on future plans.

Ign gives Skull and Bones a 7, the same they gave Starfield.

Wow. Nuff said.

Nah ps1 imo is the most overrated console ever. If you didnt like jrpgs it was a medicore console. And back then i was too young to care for jrpgs. N644Life

maybe that was it. I was really into jrpgs back then. It wasnt until ps2/xbox that I started to like wrpgs more

Zany idea here:

In regards to all of this AI talk, there’s going to be a lot of processing required for this. I’m sure there could be server-side stuff being done, and it’s hinted with this idea of a hybrid console.

But I’m also wondering if it’s possible if Microsoft would consider putting a ton of silicon dedicated to AI in their next console. It’ll make the console incredibly performant and powerful. But at the same time, with this hardware fueling their xCloud servers, they could be used to MS’s own AI processing. So when gamers aren’t using these server blades, that they are used for general computing for MS.

With this multifunction, costs will be subsidized by various departments. If the Western US had 10,000 nextbox server blades that doubled as AI processing AND gaming servers, depending on their usage, that cost is split between both services.

During work/school hours, I’m sure you won’t be using many of those blades for gaming. But at that time they could be used for AI processing. Instead of having the hardware sit idle it makes sense to have them work on something.

So I think it would be pretty awesome if they could pack in a ton of the silicon into the hardware. Yes it will jack up the cost of the hardware and MS would need to consider an even larger loss on selling this hardware. But it makes up for itself with all of this other functionality.

Going even further they could even use all of the consumer Xboxes also contribute to AI processing much like how Folding@Home worked. They could pay people in MS points for having their console connected and doing processing while it is not being played. If they sold 30 million units that’s a ton of AI processing right there especially if it had all of that extra silicon. I’m sure there will be a ton of debate on this idea, considering the power consumption and all of that. But hey if I could leave my Xbox on for 20 hours a month for this purpose and I got free Game Pass I would do it

To be fair, different reviewers, so it’s whatever.

I always felt like there should be some normalization going on in terms of reviews, people shouldn’t need to know the tastes of a specific reviewer. They are there representing IGN and the scale of 1-10 should mean the same thing regardless of who the person is.

Surely easier said than done though.

Reviews are tricky because you can read a review where a reviewer is praising a game and then focus on one negative and game ends up a 7/10. On the other hand, a reviewer could be dissappoitned about a game and then it will somehow get a 8/10.

In the skull and bones review it read like a 6/10 because it felt he highlighted the negatives more than a positive and going by IGN’s current review system it reads like more of a 6/10 than 7/10.

I think it’s like you’ve mentioned where different reviewers have a different tolerance level in how they review a game, and there’s not really a unify voice among a publication.

lol

So phil is FINALLY going to let you play OWNED games on xcloud??

Ultimately reviews are more likely to reflect the sentiment of the reviewer rather than quality of the game. There is some correlation, of course, but nothing is guaranteed.

Man… reading the replies I really can see a future where we overcome the console wars.

Sony releasing this on Xbox very soon would be a boss move.

It is going to happen eventually, it is inevitable, Sony will 100% take longer but the future is having your games in as many places as possible

GaaS folks more interested in taking away barriers than adding them.

I think multiplayer folks tend to care less about this stuff than the single player peeps, to them more players and being able to play with friends wherever they are is more important than plastic box ā€œwinningā€ which makes sense

Yeah sure, but…

Imagine Sony releasing it soon on Xbox, framing it within the Helldivers concept of reinforcements… It would be a huge win and look like they are ahead of MS, but in a more gamer focused way.

Would be a stark contrast to the turmoil Xbox is creating.
