Ya’ll love the melodrama. Ya’ll absolutely love it, man. This framing is insane.
“turmoil” lol.

Chapter 3 Peace?
It was the same way with FF14 players. They were very welcome to Xbox joining the fray. Makes me wish I was into MMOs.
How will the media outlets cope if the console wars are truly over
GAAS games are meant to be played with people and fans of those games would want their community to be as big as possible to give the developer/publisher incentives to maintain/improve the game. Console wars are irrelevant on these type of game. That is why I’m ok with Xbox releasing GAAS games to other platforms. Single player games though are the ones that make your platform desirable, but also its console wars ammo lol.
Yeah and their fanbase will be very ok with it /sarcasm
If you thought xbox guys were bad…oh boy
The company’s shares fell after the announcement, with around $10 billion of value wiped off the stock since the forecast cut, according to a CNBC calculation using FactSet data.
But analysts were watching another key metric — the operating margin in the gaming business — which came in just under 6% for the December quarter, according to a CNBC calculation. By contrast, Sony’s operating margin was more than 9% in the December quarter of 2022.
“The shipment forecast cut for PS5 … is not what is disappointing … What is disappointing is the low level” of operating margin, Atul Goyal, equity analyst at Jefferies, said in a note to clients on Wednesday.
The latest quarter’s single-digit margin for Sony is present “despite various tailwinds that should have driven up the margins towards 20%,” Goyal said, adding that the situation is “extremely disappointing.”
These tailwinds include sales of its first-party games, which are increasingly in the form of digital downloads, in addition to its high-margin PS Plus subscription service, which commands around 50% margin, according to Goyal.
Toto said that part of the reason why margins are being squeezed more recently is that software production costs have been rising.
“Spiderman 2,” which came out last year and is produced by Sony-owned Insomniac Games, cost around $300 million to make, according to gaming website Kotaku, citing an internal presentation that was leaked after a ransomware group hacked the company.
“So these budgets seemed to have a significant impact on their gaming margin over time,” Toto said.
Anyone find it weird that the gaming media isn’t really reporting on this when it’s significant enough to make multiple headlines on the big actual news sites? Meanwhile, gaming media websites are posting “rumors” about CoD 2024 skipping Xbox (lol) and how Microsoft should get out of the console industry?
Make it make sense…
The fanboys in those media outlets are protective of their favorite plastic box lol. Anyway, no matter how much fanboys plug their ears, the gaming industry right now is unsustainable as it is, and it’s showing as evidence by the multiple big news outlets reporting on it.
Sony might be selling record sales, but its margins are getting smaller due to high cost of game development. They will follow where the money is, like what Xbox/MS is planning to do. Console wars and exclusivity in general will be on a decline due to limited growth potential of consoles.

Just to reiterate Jordan’s post, everyone should pick up this game if you haven’t already.
It’s one of the best shooters I have ever played (personally in the same league as Titanfall 2 for me).

Supposedly it’s deleted.
It’s the same reason why Roblox became a $20+ billion dollar company under the noses of the gaming media, who barely acknowledged the game as it was on the Xbox and PC.
The same gaming media oblivious to how mobile gaming makes nearly double the amount console gaming does.
Already sold out

Sorry, my record about Game Pass not helping broke.
Ah that sucks, I often use this site to find the cheapest keys:
With it being delisted the prices will now gradually creep up and up. For example Rocket League on Steam is now over £300/$370 even though it’s free on Epic store.
This very much reminds me of this:
I still find it bonkers that they are more valuable than Epic Games with Fortnite, Rocket League and Fall Guys. Although saying that I was playing Roblox last night with the kids .
This is why I hope the new ‘Sebile’ does come with all the bells and whistles (Haptics & Gyro etc)
The Xbox controller has the perfect ergonomics for me. Each time I try to use a DS4/DS I just get hand cramp, if I’m lucky I can do an hour but normally less. Our friends son was saying the same and he was only 12 at the time so I think the ergonomics are a bigger issue than many make it out to be.
Based on this job post , seems like the studio that one of Playground’s founders went to go start (Gavin Raeburn, Lighthouse Games) is making another car game of some type. Not sure if this was known.

Don’t see any specific clues as to what Mike Brown’s studio, Maverick Games is making but in one of their podcasts last year they were talking about the importance of narrative in the game and they were still in the design phase before they got to cutting things. That was 8 months ago though so it may have moved on. Was also interesting because they were talking about Redfall, and his son was loving the game. They had a good discussion about games that come out that are “just fine” and about how perception changes things.
