I know there are actually alot of people out there that would be buying these games on Xbox. There are people out there for every game.
I do think a lot of the dooming comes from folks that see it as an indicator of overall third party support for Xbox rather than missing a game they want to play though. They make a big deal about the game no matter how big or small (indie for example) and if/when the game makes it to Xbox those same people aren’t there with their dollars.
Almost four years later, outside of a few hours, I still haven’t gotten around to playing Cyberpunk 2077 as it’s one of four games in my backlog. Eventually, I’ll get to it.
Hoping and wishing that RGG Studio makes the next Like a Dragon game real time combat but not like the previous Yakuza games but more like Sleeping Dogs, meaning a counter system ala Arkham and perhaps vehicles/car chases in an open world. This is what im hoping for but doubt that I will get it.
Oh damn. Here’s my gaming schedule for the rest of 2024 even though a few games may get shifted around due to a few games not having a release date yet -
Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn
Hellblade II: Senua’s Saga (halfway through…needed a break from it and once the gameplay options update released back in May for Starfield, Hellblade wasn’t a priority like it was before the update…still playing Starfield by the way, 180+ hours into the game with half the main story quests remaining and that’s it as I have done all other quests)
Ys IX: Monstrom Nox (saw this on sale on PSN and watched a walkthrough for about 30 minutes and liked what I saw. It’s an AA JRPG. With Ys X: Nordics releasing on October 25th, I wanted to give Nox a shot and hoping I like it enough to complete it as Nordics has ship combat that looks like a rip off of Black Flag but with an AA budget, lol)
Stray (this is the relaxation game as I know there’s minimal at best combat in the game and my friend keeps raving about it so I figured that August would be a good time to give it a chance plus it’s on sale until tomorrow on Xbox for $20)
Visions of Mana
Star Wars Outlaws
Astro Bot
Stalker 2: Heart of Chernobyl
Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2
Silent Hill 2 (this is 50/50 as I may just wait for the Xbox version like I did with Sifu and in a way, Stray)
Ys X: Nordics
Assassin’s Creed Shadows
Release date TBA -
Avowed
Dragon Age: The Veilguard
Indiana Jones and the Great Circle
Towerborne
Out of the above 16 games, how many times are you coming for me? I’m guessing at least 10 times at the bare minimum. lol
Haha. RDR 2 is one hell of a game even though I couldn’t get into it as I didn’t like the combat and gameplay. Cyberpunk 2077 is the oldest active game that I have in my backlog.
I have a few games from last gen and 360/PS3 gen but those games are basically in the category of “if I play them, great but if not, oh well, no biggie” lol.
I feel like fighting games are some of the most misunderstood games out there. It happened years ago but I had someone tell me that Xbox should just have The Coalition make a new Killer Instinct, which isn’t how it works when it comes to these types of games.
About the Marvel vs. Capcom collection though (I never really put my thoughts out there as someone who frequents fighting games), you’ve probably mentioned before that those are games people have been asking for years to be rereleased, but i’ve seen people who usually don’t play fighting games be into Marvel 2 specifically, and it’s because of the crazy gameplay with a bunch of stuff flying all over the screen along with the huge character roster. Maybe not as much with the Capcom side but on the Marvel side, people were more tempted to jump in and play when they saw a lot of recognizable characters from comic books and cartoons. They just picked their favorite superheroes and start playing.
When Marvel 2 had the Xbox 360/PS3 port I remember reading that it sold well. Almost 1.5 million which I think is pretty good for a online only port of a game that was almost 10 years old at the time. It was on the marketplace for only like 4 or 5 years too.
I’ll be able to buy the collection whenever it releases but it really does suck it’s missing Xbox. I feel like if there was any collection that could’ve skipped Xbox, it really shouldn’t have been this one. The Marvel series is kinda important in the fighting game scene.
It really is. People think because it’s an “old game” that nobody gives a shit compared to sf6, Tekken 8 and MK1, Third Strike came out 25 years ago and it has a thriving and extremely popular scene today. In fact it’s one of the most important fighting games to the FGC , new tournaments will be ran for it at Evo this year on arcade hardware.
MVC2 is arguably much bigger. ( that’s not even mentioning the mainstream appeal especially now with stuff like Xmen 97 becoming popular and Deadpool and Wolverine coming out) Not to mention Marvel Super Heroes, X-men : COTA , Marvel vs Street Fighter and X-men vs Street Fighter, have not been available for any consoles for well over 20 years . Punisher released on 16 bit consoles but it was practically a different game from the Arcade version.
I didn’t really feel like going through the trouble of emulating them on Xbox so I would have been more than happy to give Capcom money to own them. Now it seems like any of these collections that Capcom finally releases in the future and they have a lot ( Imagine if they finally regain the rights to Cadillacs and Dinosaurs or god forbid Alien vs Predator finally and they skip xbox for “reasons”) so I will have to pay the 20 for Dev mode I guess. It is what it is. The really infuriating thing is I own the 350 version of MVC2 and can’t play it because it’s not BC. Capcom could’ve thrown Xbox a bone and gave us the ability to at least play that but nope.
I did get a chuckle out of people suggesting The Coalition make a new KI, and I thought people saying Neatherrealm should make it was bad. At least that’s an actual fighting game developer.
The police AI always struck me as kind of a weird thing to get hung up on. It’s a cinematic RPG, not a sandbox crime game. I played for 120 hours and barely interacted with the police.
Not weird at all given they had a bunch of NCPD missions dotted around the map which had a pretty small play area, that if you stepped outside of it, the police would turn on you. Step back inside and they’re back on your team again!
It was just shoddy development all around, though they have taken steps to fix the police AI since and they should work better now. I still need to pick up the DLC at some point.
Very sad. I loved Gothic 1 and 2 and even enjoyed Risen on 360. But the fact is that their games barely really changed or improved over the many years.
Been playing Ocarina of Time lately via Switch, but this video has me really wanting to check out how it all works on Xbox. Seems I’ll be able to play Metroid Prime 2 and many other titles I’ve missed and looking damn good too. Mario Sunshine for example. Would I even be able to play Ocarina of Time full screen and crisp at 60fps?
