If I had played BG3 before I had re-fallen in love with D&D and TableTop Gaming, I woul’dve bounced off of it in under two hours. I’m not certain it truly delivers as a video game for video gamers.
That being said -as a (now) Forever GM, that was the closest I’ve ever been to experiencing a true D&D campaign from a videogame, and that’s why I hold it as a 10/10*. The Asterisk though is hyper-important, it’s the perfect game for anybody who is chasing that experience. It’s broad appeal though? Vastly, hugely overblown.
It reminds me of games like MSFS, where if you’re into aircraft simulation - you literally cannot do better. But if you’re experience of flying is GTA jets and maybe Ace Combat, this game is not going to be perfection for you.
I think I’ve done just about everything in Shadow of The Erdtree. I just need to collect 2 scadutree fragments to push my character to level 18, which lines up with what was level 20 before the update/buff. Collect any items I may want, revered spirit ashes to push my mimic further in case I need it.
The cerulean coast boss fight, was much easier at level 17 than it was back at 13, my damage from the 2 sacred banished Knights swords(buffed with their skills) and sacred tear was ripping away 1/5 of the bosses health every jump attack. While I couldn’t break his poise it taking me 2 attempts solo, compared to the 20+ with my mimic shows a massive improvement for me.
Also got the boss underneath the magic church solo, definitely took longer than with my mimic, but as I fought her. I felt that I could win the fight, also checked out a talisman that I was given before the fight on the wiki and just took it off to never use again.
Now to burn the tree, level up somemore and play the final area of the game.

"That’s because Nintendo is doing their research and ensuring a cut and dry case. Be prepared for the onslaught one day. It will come outta nowhere and it will be swift and precise. "
Wukong looks good in and of itself from what my untrained eyes see (I don’t pick up the little effects details people do, and have no big stakes in combat design), but I’m so, so bored of this genre now.
It’s kind of strange that wukongs duplicates at the beginning are more Afterimage technique than Multiform technique. But I guess it’s for balance, so that it won’t feel like we’re constantly summoning help.
The dragons poise was broken and it was down for a good amount of time. I think it was about the same as a golem in elden ring.
I look forward to Flintlock because it seems different. My thing with Wukong is it seems we only have the staff to fight with, and I wonder if that’s not going to get boring after a while. Unless we keep learning new abilities for it throughout the story.
I do wonder when they finally show off PS5 footage, because so far it’s still pc only. And overall I hope we won’t have to wait too long, because I’m definitely still interested in the game.
After all this years Ninja Gaiden Black still remains the best pure action fighting game. makes me wonder if Itagaki was going to make a new one now just how awesome it would be.
A game that just can’t work at 30fps. It’s a pity that there isn’t anything quite like this. Ever since Itagaki left Tecmo it just hasn’t been thesame even the DOA games and the franchise has faded.
I tried NGB and couldnt get into it at all, although it was the sigma version so maybe that wasn’t the bet place to start, I played the Sigma version of 2 also and it was terrible compared to the OG 2
As for Itagaki, I think those days are gone and wouldn’t have much hope for it being of the same quality if he ever got the chance again
