Yep just updated it now with the nostalgia from my childhood to explain why I miss it - and the reasons GK is no friend to Xbox gamers.
Love him or hate him, no one can deny he has a bit of an ego now - he plasters his name over everything and makes a fortune from his takeover of the gaming shows
Is that why the Xbox and Nintendo showcases were more highly viewed then his own shows? Cause that explains a lot as to why both tend to get shafted by him for quite a bit.
Also yes on his ego. I just to not vibe with him, i just feel like he prefers the attention of Hollywood, which is failing off a cliff at this point, than the actual game audience. No offense.
I got flagged yesterday for calling him a parasite, but that is absolutely what he is. He is a child of privilege (his parents are/were wealthy IMAX executives), who found a way siphon money off an industry that he doesnât contribute to.
The way he molds the narrative to self-aggrandize is also pretty reprehensible. He wasnât able to secure any big reveals for SGF so he claims it is him âjust being the good guy and shining the light on the little guy because of the big bad industryâ. He is an awful host but never gives up the spotlight at these shows because it needs to be about him and what he is âdoing for the industryâ. The industry would be just fine without him.
None of that takes into account his tendency to play favorites either.
The dude is gross.
Think about it this way. Yesterday he had two different segments where he had other people come on stage to talk about how they started indie game funds to help people get their games made. The among us people and Jason Blum. He found a way to make other peopleâs efforts to better the industry about him. Where is his indie publishing fund?
They definitely needed the lead in to that anime trailer to say "This is for the upcoming RTS game ". The same should have been done with Concord too. That should be the approach going forward any time the trailer is so vastly different than the game.
I really hope that the Xbox Games Showcase brings back that classic E3 feel.
Warts and all. It doesnât need do be perfect and if some of the imperfections remind us of an older E3, the better.
Hype the crowd with Activision games coming to Game Pass, bring out Tony Hawk to announce all of his games coming to Game Pass, do the Splinter-Cell nightvision sound effect teaser to get the crowd going wild, have an on-stage demo of someone playing The Coalitionâs 60fps UE 5 Gears game/collection.
Thereâs going to be people that donât want to see a celebrity on stage, people who would rather see a trailer then a developer playing the game and talking about it, and people who think announcing classic games hitting Game Pass are all dumb and turn the show into an F⌠But honestly I crave that E3 nostalgia. Title logo teaser for a game 3 years out? Go for it, as long as you have enough coming in the next year.
In order to prop up the 5Pro, Sony started removing the 8K marketing on their PS5 packages:
Sony is removing mention of 8K support for the PlayStation 5 on console packaging.
While retailers such as Argos still have pictures of the PS5 Slim model with 8K written across the side of the consoleâs box - as shown in the header image above - mention of this support has been scrubbed from Sonyâs own site.
Even Nvidia with the 4090 barely pushed the 8K Marketing spin. There was some, but it was still caveated. Iâm not sure theyâll go down that path even with the 5090.
Yeah, if games are struggling to hit 4k60, what makes people think a marginal upgrade to the GPU will suddenly allow them to hit 8k? The PS5 Pro would need to be able to quadruple the current 4k to hit native 8k. If anyone thinks thatâs even remotely possible, theyâre out of their minds.
It would be such a crazy waste of resources too. I mean how close to the screen do you have to sit for 8K? I have a 65 inch and I donât sit nearly as close to it as is recommended for 4K.
