They need to begin ramping things up to the lead of COD and Indiana Jones. This is good as they now have big games to actually market Game Pass. This is also the best opportunity when many are struggling all over the world to give them a cheap way to game.
It is their first big release of the year, so this seems promising. The fact CoD will be at Direct means they are NOT going to miss this chance to advertise it like Thanksgiving Parade.

They should capture a clean gameplay footage and premier it on Prime or Netflix in a 6 episode season.
I think CoD will get the same marketing cycle it usually gets since it’s the big money maker. I wish I could share your optimism about them heavily marketing Gamepass, but they seem reluctant to do so for whatever reason. Maybe you’re right and they’ll lean into it more as they start releasing bigger titles, but my finger is squarely on “press X to doubt”.

I haven’t been following the controversy dejour (I tend to ignore stories about steam users being outraged by… things), but has the game always required linking to your PSN account, or is this a new thing for certain countries?
I can understand people being annoyed at having to do it now when they’ve been playing the game for a month and it wasn’t stated up front when they made their purchase. Also, Sony’s “player safety” excuse is absurd. I would rather have a company tell me up front “because this is how it is” than try to patronize me with bullshit.
Either way, I can’t bring myself to legitimately care about this.
It required it at launch and then turned that off because it was broken. Now they’re turning it back on.

PS is “late” to this fashion, so now it feels like an unnecessary move. Not to mention, this comes off more of MAU push than what they call it, “Security purpose.” The appeal is the game function for everyone. Now, they have to sign up. The real damage is PSN account isn’t available everywhere, so what’s going to happen to them.

I had to search for it to see what it was and the threads I read dated from like less than 24h. It’s pretty nice from MS to think about that. It isn’t really something I would brag about, but it’s nice !

Helldivers 2 went from 85% positive reviews to 71% mostly positive in a matter of a day. That’s insane. Talk about Sony’s Tarkov moment.
