I love pretty much every game Atlus has made over the last 30 years, to see I’m excited for this is an understatement - it really feels like ever since Atlus broke from some of their release-exclusivity the teams have finally been making enough money to soar. Hell, from a sales perspective, Persona is now more popular than mainline Final Fantasy titles.

I’m relatively new to Atlus games, my first was Persona 3 on PS2 and I have only played Persona 3 through 5 skipping all the side games. I really like that franchise and Metaphor looks similar enough I think I could get into it too.

I really don’t want this to be the narrative, the game launched in an unacceptable state, and even the now fans of it will say that it took a while to get to a good state. I’m all for giving them credit for sticking to it and getting it there, but imo “it’s ALWAYS been good” is not honest. Should always keep a reminder to publishers to not launch like that.

Yeah people need to stop with the extremes on both ends
On one side you have people saying it was always good, it wasn’t, it was a trainwreck at launch
On the other, you have people that played it at launch, never touched it again and have continued to say it’s shit for years without ever touching any of the endless updates it’s had over the years

Same. It’s definitively been good since Wastelanders was released (which is why we saw all those “76 is actually good now” articles six months after it came out), but as someone who was there before day one, 76’s first year was atrocious. It slowly got better, but that extra investment that went into Wastelanders was the thing that launched it into orbit, and I honestly use this game as the best example of a GaaS title that became much better with time and investment (because the devs were given both resources, which is rare). Side note: I think there are a lot more GaaS games that get better than those that get worse, but the biggest problem is publishers cutting funding before the latter (or those that are just killed prematurely) get their chance. For that alone Zenimax and Xbox deserve a ton of praise imo, as someone who’s watched platform holders kill off games/servers without a second’s notice…
P.S. - you all know how much I love Bethesda, Fallout, and 76, but I’ve always said and proven that I’m objective at heart, really wish we could say the same about the majority of the media, and the people in it.

I have faith in Atlus but this game looks pretty bad to me. Everything is so brown and ugly looking lol. Guess I’ll see when I inevitably buy it.
I’m loving everything I’ve seen thus far and being Team Zero’s first game, I have high hopes. May pick up the Collector’s Edition for the 35th Anno stuff😋
