I think the elephant in the room is will they remove the online paywall if they allow third party storefronts. I don’t think you can charge to play Steam or epic games online.
Seems like he is thinking about it purely from a business perspective and can’t understand why Xbox would do it. He didn’t once mention the negtaives or positives as an actual player.
No issue with what Ybarra said if it’s an independent development studio that isn’t owned by a million/billion/trillion dollar publisher. When I played and completed my game of the PS4/XBO generation The Witcher 3, I felt that the game was worth $100 easily for me. So after I beat the game, I decided to buy both expansions. Easily worth the cost.
So while this is very rare, I do get that feeling sometimes. But for the million/billion/trillion dollar publishers, nah, let them give better bonuses to those who work at the studio regardless of what the stupid meta/open critic score was.
Just finished watching the rest of the Fallout episodes. Wow. Just wow.
Edit: Can we please have a thread for spoilers once enough have seen it because I just want to talk to others about it now haha
He want Jim Ryan position so hard
Ya right, i refunded a game 1 hour playing and gave the optional reason for refund “it is on gamepass”
They censored some things in the PSP port but I think the story is still there for the most part.
There’s been games since then that didn’t shy away from how certain things were depicted so I don’t think they would censor things again in a remake.
Wonder why he’d be down about that, all of that sounds good to me. Great actually, the Steam part especially. I don’t care at all for handheld, as long as the main console is as powerful as they can make it, no sacrifices there please.
So far it’s just been rumors that this is next for Xbox, correct? The only official bit we have is that Phil really wants to see a Xbox handheld.
In other news…
I’d say that it is insane in this day and age to not have PC AND Xbox versions at launch. The funny thing is that Square Enix getting the short end of the stick in this deal with the IP taking a hit in brand recognition/mediocre sales e.t.c. while Sony is gaining the positive word of mouth of a highly rated 3rd party exclusive/filling an empty spot in their 2024 line-up while not giving a fuck about the game’s sales. lol
Also it’s funny that no one from the hilarious damage control thread on otherera is saying anything about a potentially necessary Xbox version, only PC is mentioned…Xbox is like a forbidden word there or something.
Yeah, they’ve always been quick in my experience. I had to refund one of the Fallout 3 DLC’s this week and it was all processed within 2 minutes.
Unsure what sales would be on xbox, but if a game is good then it will sell no matter the platform. It’s funny to see the shift in trajectory for Persona and Final Fantasy. They seem to be going the opposite direction and Persona get a huge boost once they went multiplatform. Also, you can say the same thing about Yakuza series. Meanwhile, Square are playing these games of taking on deals with Sony that has only hurt their brand. It’s like they took the wrong lesson out of FFXV because that game sold way more than every FF game after, and that game was a multiplatform game
I had things refunded that have passed their 2 week period.
So I’m hearing FF7R2 sales ranged around 2 million. Apparently, this is Xbox Game Pass fault since subscription is on the rise, which is odd because I was told it’s stabilized or declining. Which is it?
The problem with FF7R2 is that outside of the bubble we all play in, the remake of a 1997 classic that has been split in to three was never going to light up the sales charts. In fact, part 2 and part 3 were always likely to fall down compared to Part 1, partly due to the name - Rebirth, and not Remake Part 2,and partly due to the pool of consoles dropping.
Not saying it is a failure but it really does look like a misstep, no matter how it ends up, really.
It’s just all round bad business decisions by SE.
It is kinda funny reading in other places Sony fanboys saying how releasing Rebirth on Xbox wouldnt have made any difference.
I am quite sure any company would prefer, lets say, selling 2 millions and 250.000 copies than 2 millions copies.
I am pretty sure that a simultaneous Xbox version of Rebirth bundled with Part 1 could do pretty good on Xbox, I sure as hell would buy that for example.
And as you correctly said I am pretty sure that 2.5m (and if you include PC probably 3m+) is better than 2m…especially at full price. But it’s SE we are talking about so logic is not applied here.
I doubt the naming convention had too much of an impact, but selling to fewer consoles certainly did. Then you have to consider the people who either, haven’t completed Intergrade yet, or have simply dropped it. They likely aren’t in much of a rush to pick up Rebirth.
It does get worse later in the game. I like it though. Fun and weird game.
Odd that. Palworlds at 25 million+ on Xbox and PC alone.
Playstation fans dont buy Final Fantasy games anymore.
FFVII R 1 and 2 will be on Xbox next year or Square will be sold off.
