Honestly don’t think it’s ever coming out.

I think the production cost and Disney’s cut of the profit will make this game a dud for them, even if Saber manages to make it happen.

I’m still hoping for the KOTOR Remake and I like Saber Interactive who’s currently developing Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 which looks awesome so more confident now that it’s away from Embracer Group.

A sub 1080 at 60 noone would give a shit dude. Seriously. Youre acting like xbox gamers give a shit about resolution on a 500 dollar box. Cmon now.

Hes a british journo. Theyre all anti xbox or most of them especially the ones that work for eurogamer/pc gamer and that toilet paper metro

Lol I’m the weirdo that selects Graphics mode every time

I think the point is more that Todd maybe needs to stop with the “bigger is always better” so they can work on improving other parts of the experience.

I rode a leyline in Immortals of Aveum and soared above miles of playable areas without a single loading screen, Hogwarts Legacy I didn’t have a single one either even when on the broom (and it even got ported back to the One), and even AA experiences like Banishers or even older ones like Greedfall have minimised loading screens.

It makes Bethesda games feel a decade old when I’m hitting a few seconds of loading to enter a tiny shop - it breaks immersion and doesn’t feel AA let alone AAA.

The size of Starfield was pointless - I’ve spent 100 hours in the game, much of it exploring and hoping to see new sights / discoveries but often they’re just the same / similar random bases and baddies whether I’m on a planet in our solar system or out in the unknowns.

And so many missions that are basically “go to X, talk to Y, return to Z” - and those that were interesting would often not give me agency in deciding the resolution.

Skyrim and Oblivion were marvels of their times, but in an era now when Flight Sim models the entire world I’d hope Todd realises procedurally generated size isn’t impressive anymore, and instead deeper NPC interactions, more impactful missions and tighter, better sculpted environments are more likely to make the game enjoyable.

We all remember Whiterun in Skyrim, the guard who took an arrow to the knee, the dragons etc - that was all crafted and it showed, and the loading screens were acceptable back then.

Now I think they need to go back to what they were good at and modernise the engine further - I love their games and I do like random / procedurally generated stuff when done right, but in Starfield it felt like padding.

Rant over, sorry lol - it’s just I played it so long trying to force myself to like it having looked forward to it so much, and while some missions felt like the Bethesda of old (the Terrormorph mission in particular) in general it felt dated, padded and not as immersive as Skyrim felt, particularly given the competition nowadays…

(Admittedly, Starfield was always going to struggle to the hype levels struggling Bethesda had built up around it, then post acquisition with few first party games in 2022 Xbox players pinning hopes on it)

Everwild? Could be PD too. Hell, could be Contraband as well.

Of all the games in development I don’t think there’s any chance of ToW 2. Right?

The Evil Within 3! believe! (let me dream!)

On a more serious note, there are so many games coming that it’s impossible to guess what game Jez is talking about. :stuck_out_tongue:

The simple fact that there is so much to come it could be is an asset now Sony is so slow

The mo-cap will be expensive but the other parts such as modernising the NPC interactions and multiple loading screens would unlikely need anywhere near triple/quadruple the budget.

Maybe AI could help with improving their procedural animations instead of throwing money at mo cap? There are plenty of other solutions that wouldn’t result in a budget 4x the size.

Even the best of games will loose it’s playerbase if it doesn’t stay modern and relevant (old and new).

I’m not trying to get in one of these arguments again, but I do think tools are the solution. It doesn’t need to be as good as 100% mo-cap, just needs to be much better than it is. You see all sorts of tools out there for generative AI animation, NPC direction, voices, etc. I’d like to see them lean heavily into that.

I don’t know how easily those tools integrate with custom engines though. Its probably just marketing but it seems like everything we see gets attached to UE 5.0 lol.
