It might be true, but we’ll see when we get real info. Kepler (who is reliable) thinks it’s likely true.

Who’s Kepler? Also, 35TF+ would make it like $1000 or some shit. There’s just no way. I’m not expecting more than 14TF and even that is a stretch.

LOL, the only thing here that makes it sound slightly genuine is “Spectral Super Resolution”. It sounds like nonsense that Sony would come up with, however it’s actually already a real thing!

Surely they could have spent some time formatting the document, rather than what appears to be a basic word doc that was compiled in a few minutes.

Nah, the flops now are basically counted double compared to RDNA2 because they are ‘dual issue’ . That’s why it says it’s only a 50% upgrade to PS5 in rasteriztaion, you have to divide the number in half to get the comparable number.

Kepler is some Twitter dude that frequently has AMD info.

Since im not a tech guy, let’s see if I get this right - since you’re saying it’s basically counted as double, that would make the 36 or whatever it is more like 18? Or am I way off?

Yeah, it’s 33.X so it’s closer to 16.X RDNA2 (PS5) equivalent flops. There will obviously be some efficiencies from the newer architecture and some benefit from the dual issue, but the number alone is not useful in a comparison.

16 vs Xbox’s 12, not a huge jump to be honest if that’s the case, especially for something that will most likely have a huge price premium.

You’d be better off buying an RTX 4070, has over 40 actual TFLOPS of power and supports real AI upscaling.

Saw one comment that this would basically be a PS6. But, surely not, right?

Says 45% faster than base PS5, so barely a Pro? Seems like the focus is on improved RT and AI upscaling. It’s probably closer to 25% faster than an XSX in raw performance.

Hmm, if it isn’t even a Pro, damn. Wonder what real big differences we’re gonna see in something like GTA 6. Raytracing probably I guess, but likely not 30fps-60fps differences, right? The AI upscaling could be promising?

In other news DMC5 is only 16 euros, that’s damn good. I’ve yet to even finish the first one, and I have the other games but I might need to bite now.

Guess it all depends on the impact of the ai/ray tracing stuff. Probably be able to run games that have a 1080/60 performance mode at fidelity settings with 4k/60 and additonal RT.

That would be pretty damn good in my opinion. But it will depend on price, wonder what Sony will charge for it.

Thanks. Appreciate the info. We’ll see what it ends up being later this year.

That spec would be better than a 4070, closer to a 4080, AMD equivalent would be a 7800XT.

Those cards are 800 to 1000 GBP by themselves - with all the AI etc stuff they’re proposing, this would be a PS6 in 2026 or so, no way that’s a PS5 Pro.

If it was and it’s under a grand, I’ll be shocked and be first in line - and I’d get the Series X rival if Xbox matched it, as both would be cheaper than building the PC I’ve been looking at that’s only a little higher specced

It’d be upscaled to 4k not native, so it’ll depend on how the upscaling solution is. Even DLSS has its problems IMO.

I like when it doesnt give you a choice. You have to get good or you cant go forward. Its what I like about from softwares games. They shouldnt have difficulty options in my opinion. go play something else if thats what you want but again thats just me

I really struggle with that elitist mindset - my partner is one of the best gamers I’ve ever seen, but has no issue with difficulty settings (often replaying in nightmare mode, particularly on DMC5, and walking From Software games).

I need them as I’m autistic and struggle sometimes with reactions on pressing the right buttons, so I’m the opposite and play on easier settings or with accessibility options on.

I have to play Elden Ring etc vicariously through my partner, but I’d love to give them a try if they were accessible - and the elitists should welcome difficulties as they can then really prove themselves with harder ones (I’ve no issue with some achievements locked to completing on higher difficulties for example, so that could be proof)

As a fully-abled gamer who has played both competitive multiplayer at a professional level in both MOBA and FPS; and someone who has played all of the “hardcore” games out there - I 100% stand behind this statement.

The existence of an “easy” mode in Elden Ring in no way detracts from my experience playing it on the sweatiest playthrough possible. It is not a 0-sum game, everyone should be able to experience something the way they choose. If your partner is just a fantastic gamer, they should be allowed to express that in playing FromSoft games and excelling against Malenia.

If you are a fantastic gamer, but perhaps of a different variety; where a Malenia fight might give you more challenge than someone else, nobody should have the right to say “you can’t experience the end of Elden Ring, because I had to beat Malenia the hard way so you do too.” I have never, can never, and will never understand that mindset.

For what it’s worth, I also don’t think Bacon was insinuating that these options’ shouldn’t exist, more that their preference is that they don’t. I still don’t understand the preference, but I can recognize the difference between “I don’t like this” and “this shouldn’t exist.”

Is the problem that the presence of an option is a temptation for you to reduce the difficulty instead of overcoming the challenge? I don’t see what difference it makes otherwise.
