Yeah, I agree. If it was up to me, I would just lock it down so I know it’s not going anywhere. Sony has Genshin, Honkai Star Rail and there will be others so to have Palworld is huge for Microsoft and Xbox. They need to take full advantage of the game being massive in my opinion.

One thing I noticed from SoP is that there’s many of “in development.” That doesn’t raise confidence. At least we have windows from DD.

Their ability and/or willingness to lock down 3rd party properties is not really Xbox thing since a long time ago, the only credible option is buying the whole studio and IP.

Anyway, this game is bigger than those ones for pc/console crowd, they are mobile games at their core.

Yeah, I know that locking down individual games isn’t really what Microsoft does anymore but they should in my opinion. If it’s a popular game especially one in a genre/type that you don’t really have, they should reconsider that outlook in my opinion. Besides, if they’re going to help them out with dedicated servers and whatnot, they should lock them down at that point.

But whatever they do, they do.

I’d evaluate the game from a legal standpoint: if MS lawyers say it’s bulletproof from N, they should use it as their own PokĂ©mon, to each their own. But 99% they won’t, it’s too a 360 times move for these days.

The cost for Xbox as a smaller platform to buy exclusivity is far higher than it is for PlayStation as a market leader. The R.O.I. rarely makes sense, otherwise they’d do it. Getting the game on Game Pass is far more beneficial for us anyways.

Legally, im not expecting there to be any issues. The game was known for years and if there was going to be a lawsuit, The Pokemon Company/Nintendo would have done it already.

I agree with you Jesse but at the same time, a massive game just fell into their laps and in my opinion, they should take advantage of that by locking it down. Besides, Microsoft is obviously spending money, resources and time by helping them out with Dedicated Servers and whatnot so if they’re already spending money on the game, why not just spend some more to make it a full exclusive?

Generally speaking, yeah, but locking down the surprise hit is a sure roi win. They won’t do it, but hypothetically speaking, this would be a win scenario for Xbox, both image and money wise. Also, smaller from hw pieces, not maus, so IDK how much the difference.

The ROI is already damned near infinite on this one. They did the thing they need to, get the game that became a cultural zeitgeist on the platform/game pass day one. They don’t need to do a lot more.

Making it their own PokĂ©mon could be the next step, it’s not like buying exclusives is some bad sin. Imagine if the game holds, Palworld permanently associated with Xbox. Not bad, huh.

This game isn’t pokemon, at all. And your 2nd point has no need to be said, as no one has intimated otherwise.

I feel like it would be a good move to maybe have xbox themed armor in palworld like sea of thieves does with ships. maybe have like halo themed armor or somethign along those lines

Exactly right. Avg gamers just play games they like.

This banter of concern over lack of first party and platform going third party by losing its exclusive is just console war talk. Some times it is lite hearted but sometimes it is toxic.

Doesn’t matter to the avg gamer anyway. They just want games.

I could see them reach those numbers with PC but only on PS? No chances.

For comparison, this is how much both Ni-oh games have sold across PC and PS4/PS5:

So its either releasing on PC faster than expected or the devs are smoking something. Lets not forget this game is competing with what is arguable the biggest game of March: Dragons Dogma 2 (both launch in the same day)

Didnt know these devs are the ones who made Nikke :eyes:

Not even with pc day one imo, those Nioh numbers are lifetime sales of two games with heavy discounts, the 5M target is bollocks for Nioh 4. Also, the setting is no longer “cool” as it was years ago, expecially with the (lack of) fidelity of Ronin.

Yeah that too. Nioh games took several years and discounts to reach those numbers and everything so far has point to the RoR getting the same scores as their past games (low 8’s). What happens when/if DD2 scores higher AND you have the PC community plus your own community not paying attention to you? They are practically asking to get horizoned.

DD2 also is not looking super super modern (being an rpg, you can’t boost graphics like RE or DMC), but compared to Ronin it seems cutting edge. Average PS guy will buy DD2.

funny we are talking about team ninja im about to start wolong. I imagine it will be leaving in march. Also playing brotato which is rad
