Consoles and pc are nowhere near maxed out (like Tom Warren would want you believe, for example), one could argue MS hasn’t even started to get serious, because it’s only now they have all the elements in place.

This “finishing up” shit is getting annoying on Xbox now. It download and installed the latest update for Remnant 2 and then you get that finishing up nonsense. Which takes way too long.
I wish they’d fix this. A while ago this didn’t happen.

Agreed. This reminds me of when I download a game on PlayStation 5 and afterwards it says “copying”. It’s like, WTF is this?

Yeah, I have had “copying” when downloading a game or update since PlayStation 4. With “finishing things up” on Xbox, it’s only been recently as in the last few months. Both are freaking annoying though and wish that whatever it is was part of the original download so once it’s done, it’s done.

Interesting thing to note: If you use the Xbox app on your phone and look at Avowed, South of Midnight or Clockwork, you can pre-install them to your home Xbox.
Last time I was able to do this was just before AEW Fight Forever came out.

I haven’t paid attention to downloads in a while but if they’re doing that now like PS I believe this way makes the downloads while running a game faster.

Yeah, perhaps. It’s still annoying having to wait longer for a download to finish though.
I love that image. They could totally have just given the PS4 and ps5 logos instead of fine print for ps4. Also should I assume that because it tells me the support stand is sold separately but doesn’t tell me the console or controller are sold separately, that I get that free if I get Foamstars?

People are quick to jump on games Xbox backs and fails but how many have Sony backed that failed or were received poorly…

How are people feeling about this new Microsoft/Xbox mobile store? I still doubt they will ever be able to break up that duopoly with Google and Apple.
Assuming they can (unlikely) it will be interesting to see if they also bring back the Windows (Lumia) phones. If they did they could also make a Xbox branded version which could technically become their ‘Xbox handheld’.
When you look at their competitors (Apple, Amazon, Meta & Google) it seems everytime MS tries to compete with them in these other areas they fail:
- Music streaming = Zune/Groove
- Smart Wearables = MS Band
- Smart Assistant = Cortana
- Smartphone = Lumia
- Social Media = Tried to partially acquire TikTok
- Film/TV streaming = N/A
- Live Video Streaming = Mixer

Don’t forget Zune before Groove! With I think Zune Pass where you got to keep so many songs each month in addition to streaming.
Also this list brings back memories of all the stuff I’ve had.

I still lament the demise of the Zune and the Zune store. The store was great and they had a subscription that let you download and play pretty much anything without having to buy it and I think they gave you something like 10 free credits to purchase individual songs. It was basically Spotify long before Spotify.
It just sucked because everyone wanted to use iTunes and pay that extra 30 cents per song for whatever dumb reason.

Yup. I always wanted a Zune cause they looked cooler but I couldn’t afford one. I finally bought the Zune HD maybe 2 years ago
Also just remembered they had an ebook store that they eventually closed and refunded all purchases from.
