As I said by 2026, nextBox drops, SX goes $300(+), that’s the “cross-gen” period, SS mandate dropped. They can easily explain that by saying that the generation ended in some way, things change.

Keyword mandated support is. General support, of course it would continue, but not mandating development anymore, and soon after maybe discontinuation.

This is beginning to give me “my life was in danger” vibe the more I think about it. If you know, you know.

Very interesting. If it’s 2026 I doubt it’s going to be a Pro console, that would be two years after Sony (likely) will have one. And then two years later the next gen would start? That too sounds unlikely, One X had three years to shine until Series came out.

But Phil did say 2028 for when they expect next gen to start, hmm. But plans can change.

Personally I’d be fine with 2026. Going back to shorter console gen is fine with me.

Honestly , the best move for Sony has been increasing ps+ price by 30% . They Tested to see how their consumers react to it and not much push back . Expect another increase before the gen ends

Thank you guys! :hugs:

BTW not being able to use my right hand made me look into slower and not that demanding in terms of control input games and I am really happy that I played some excellent turn-based and adventure/puzzle games. Also this period made me appreciate the accessibility options so much more, for example Cocoon was the first game I played after the surgery and having the option to map everywhere the action button made me able to play the game with one hand (left analog stick for movement + LT for action!).

It will be weird to drop the mandate support for Series S and out of character for Xbox as this gen we’ve seen Xbox being by far the most consumer friendly in terms of platform support/cross-gen period.

I agree though that 2026 sounds a little late to have a Pro console out, that late into the generation Xbox could easily release their next console. Personally I wouldn’t rule out a Pro console from MS considering how slow this generation feels though…interesting times ahead!

Oh yea, I get what you mean, I’m still not sure they’d do that but who knows

I think a Pro in 2026 would be absolutely pointless, it also wouldn’t really solve any issues Xbox is having is the hardware space

It would also mean TES VI will be day one on the new system, that would be quite awesome! Maybe they are already making it with those specs in mind.

That being said, what Sloth says isn’t entirely true. Jeff isn’t really corroborating anything.

Whatever the case is, perhaps MS saw the plans of that Pro by Sony and decided to start the next gen two years early.

I think thats always been the plan. Hence the Xbox Series monniker.

Based on the PS5pro specs, it might be 60% more powerful than series X and likely will be $600.

The One X was over 3 times as powerful as PS4 and 5 times more powerful than Xbox One.

The PS5 pro will be a very, very mediocre leap.

The amount of Xbox crossover is making me laugh.

Fair enough. Love how people believe Xbox gamers will fail them because we don’t buy games. Sure, believe in that narrative. It’s not like it’s the #13 most played game in USA as well as top 2 top paid.

Oh wait…

PS5 pro will be based on the requirement of Ray Tracing like it was for ps4 pro with 4K requirement.

They can achieve great results by having better Ray tracing architecture and having upscaling pipeline.

There raster performance might only increase by 60-70% but RT performance may increase by 2 or maybe 3 times.

2026 is definitely next Gen and not a Pro console as it wouldn’t make sense since a Pro system would at least need 3 years on the market to make any sense to customers.

I feel like if 2026 is the year that either PS5 Pro will only be on the market for 2 years and Sony is milking their user base for all their worth, or MS is pulling an Xbox 360 and releasing 1 year ahead of the competition.

If that happens, I think it could work by keeping the spotlight on them for 1 year with the best version of all games but they’ll also need some big hitters in terms of exclusivity to really showcase what it can do.

Now would be the time to have that new Blade game or, ideally Elder Scrolls 6 and maybe even a new Halo. We need something big in order to get people hyped up. If I was them I’d bring back Peter Moore and Jay Allard and make all publicity about the game in style of the 360 launch in order to make people reminisce about those days and bring the hype levels to a whole new other level. Heck, give Koei Tecmo some money and get a DOA or Ninja Gaiden exclusivity just like in the old days!

Yeah if there are any plans for a Pro console that would be 2025, one year after the PS5 Pro is out like they did with One X (and at the same time provide relatively easy a stronger system than the competition). I agree that 2026 is too late for an upgrade on current gen.

I guess it all depends on how the platform holders view this gen in terms of how long it could last. We are in the third year of the generation, development cycles are getting longer and longer and it feels like things are just getting started plus both consoles are hardly being pushed hardware wise.

We hace seen Console prices go up, so I’m doubting the Series X will $300+ unless it’s on sale.

As for Series S, I think the idea of turning it into a portable console like how the Xbox portable thread has been discussing makes more sense, than just stopping support(which if it’s not mandatory, most devs will just stop supporting all together imo).

Through 2023, Microsoft has released 17 first party titles with an average rating of 81 on Open Critic and a 22 monthly gap (meaning no new release in those 22 months out of 38) while Sony has released 13 first party games with an average rating of 83.6 on Open Critic and a 29 monthly gap.

Future wise, as of now, it’s a slaughter in Microsoft’s favor. Third party PlayStation 5 console exclusives and remasters/directors cuts is what’s really saving PlayStation 5 at this point. Subtract them and the above is exactly what it is.

Is this why GT 7 looks amazing when driving from the driver’s seat? Either way, this shit is weird and makes no sense for why Polyphony Digital would default the settings like that. Oh well.

In all honesty, im hoping for September 2028. One console. Disc/digital/streaming in one. $500. Just take the loss Microsoft. Launch titles - Halo 7 campaign, World of Warcraft complete, Killer Instinct 2 (platform), next Forza Motorsport (platform) and if possible Banjo remake. October would belong to third party publishers. November would be Blade (if not out by the end of 2027, I would delay it for next gen which to be honest is what I would probably do regardless) and COD (platform).

2029 would have The Elder Scrolls VI, Gears 7: Hivebusters (hoping) and other stuff. As of right now, I would already have a few games in development for next generation Xbox. And every game, current generation only. Want to play them on Series X/S? Well, that’s why Game Pass Ultimate and Cloud exists. Of course, this is what I would personally do.
