But don’t worry, I’ve been told, by people with little to no technical knowledge, that the uber-unrealistic lighting looks great… in screenshots. Don’t even get me started on the errors in that “analysis” as well - a complete lack of understanding of simulated atmospherics being a massive example.
Also love how all those examples of PS5 gameplay we saw online left and right are completely disregarded - there are some startling last-gen graphical elements in GT7.
Burnout 2 was great but Burnout 3 Takedown was the GOAT of the series IMO. I played the hell out of that game and would love to see it come back. Def Jam FFNY got a lot of spin in my Xbox as well. too bad about the sequel.
I imagine it would be a licencing nightmare to do that type of thing again today. ( plus todays rapper with a few exception don’t hit like the line up in that game did) I’d love a spiritual successor to it.
I’m in the Police academy at the moment. Got until May of 2024 till graduation. It’s consumed my life. From the crack of dawn till about 6 pm, my life is nothing but the academy and academy related work. I have extremely limited free time, but what free time I do have, I spend some of it here. This community is one of my happy places. I just enjoy talking about games and in specific, xbox’s first party. You guys are keeping me sane through this insane endeavor, thank you.
Not always, only since Gran Turismo 4 oddly enough.
It’s very strange and doesn’t feel good to me compared to most other racing games. It can be mitigated somewhat in the camera options – although GT7 has less options to change the camera than Sport did, and even the loosest setting still feels really stiff. It’s one element of why the driving feels a lot better to me in Forza.
Sorry to anyone who was looking forward to this. I can’t help thinking how many years and developers they wasted on this project and if we could have gotten an Uncharted sequel or another single player game instead.
That footage of Gran Turismo 7 looks beyond horrible. That can’t be the entire game though, can it? SMH
Not surprised that Factions was cancelled even though I was expecting it to be scaled down and added with TLOUP3 similar to that of the original 2013 TLOU.
Don’t see the Horizon spin off getting cancelled since it’s being developed by NC Soft who Sony just signed a deal with a few weeks ago.
That’s… literally what the game looks like to play, yes.
Not about you specifically, but it’s just funny to me, it drives home that for all the ink that gets spilled about GT and Forza in the service of console wars… People have so little experience actually playing the games.
GTA can do both. Where are they at now? Apparently God according to social media engagement. It’s weird because some of these studios can do multiplayer yet they either go over their head or have bad luck. Killzone was a good example. Had a neat mode that literally changes game mode during the game but never caught on. Halo may had misstep earlier but look where they at now. In a time where all live service games are at, Halo staying strong is an amazing testament.
Pretty crazy that this month, Xbox gained one, PS lost one. I wonder if Concord is still aiming for next year. Surely, next year showcase got to be better than this year. There’s absolutely no way it will be a dud.
What it is is that the camera is fixed to the car and it’s fixed with little variance so it’s not going to sway or swing or change depending on the car pitch or anything like that. You can actually change it in the settings so it is more like Forza.
Playstation will be relient on their brand strength and third parties to carry them for the next 3 or 4 years. Their management made massive strategic errors in the direction of their first party. It may not ultimately matter in terms of console sales, but bottom line profitability is absolutely killed by their first party software miscalculation.
People believe that Playstation has games they will be releasing because that’s what they’ve done historically. However, that’s mostly a miss on people understanding of what happened at Playstation.
The entire strategy shifted to making life service games and that started in 2021. They switched more than half of their funding and game development personnel over to making live service games. Their entire strategic planning and long range planning was built around this. They are now shifting away from that. They scaled back, they’ve shelved many projects outside of Factions. The projects that are still planning to move forward are being pushed out further as Sony underestimated what it takes to deliver live service games.
As a result some of their normally reliable studios for content are either tied up for years now with a live service game, or just beginning a new game cycle as their project was canceled.
All that to say, I wouldn’t expect much from a Playstation showcase. They do not have much need to move units as they are doing very well due to the strength of third-party multiplatform games in general. They also do not have much in the way of games that are coming near term.
The Christmas sales seem better to me then the black Friday sales on the Xbox store. Was able to grab vouchers at a 10% discount and then buy resident evil 4, cyberpunk-phantom liberty, sifu and Alan wake 2 all for the equivelant of $100 which is a steal
Next-Xbox 2026, and with it the Series S support mandate drops, Series X goes $300 and is the cross-gen machine for 2-3 years. I have thought of this for a while
