I’m also excited for Rogue Trader. Owlcats games are usually a complete fucking mess on release though.

Phil, if you want your own Larian/Baldurs Gate 3 like game, Owlcats is available lol. Imagine them with the Shadowrun IP with BG3 like budget.

Now you know why I got my review out yesterday (I still gave it a 7, but man that MP is a chef’s kiss. Reviews of 4 or 5 ought to fuck off XD. I’ve played 4s, this ain’t a 4.)

Interesting. I don’t know what the solution here is, even assuming good faith from reviewers. What would be a reasonable solution? Breaking up the review into multiple separate reviews for each distinct mode of the game? Mandating a certain time pass from launch to make sure the conditions are more in line with what a layperson would encounter?
It makes me think of what Sikamikanico was saying about the new Robocop game. I wouldn’t mind seeing a few scores at the end of a review, like “what score was the game aiming for”, “how well did it hit that mark”, “how playable is the game without additional content”, “this is how it rates as a purely single player experience” and so on. I know that this would work better as you know, words in an article, but people just want to look at scores and shit on something or hype themselves up.
Unfortunately we’re at an inflection point where there are so many games and it’s so important to get clicks for a site’s survival and people don’t care to read and scores don’t mean anything. There are outliers of course, like this very site. Still, it’s a bleak picture overall.
The replayability of the levels is great. I’ve probably played the campaign more than any previous COD I can remember.

The reviews were useful for me because I only play campaign anyway.
Unlike me, and most reviewers, the average person is primarily interested in multiplayer. So the reviews weren’t wrong necessarily, they were just lopsided in terms of the elements that most players care about. Probably should have waited to have enough time to give the multi a fair shake in this case. But they gotta get those reviews out asap!

Hopefully you watched the full version and not the theatrical cut. I often find myself a bit indifferent when it comes to Director’s cuts, but my god the theatrical (studio) cut for Kingdom of Heaven completely ruins what is otherwise a great film.

100% Sibylla’s arc alone is vastly different between the two (that whole scene with the “eardrops” - IYKYK). Ridley has some middling films but I’d still argue his average is better than the vast majority of directors, and his cut Kingdom of Heaven is one of my favorite movies of all time - extremely relevant right now as well…

Nvidia or Microsoft’s? Either way I doubt it. Nvidia have a relatively small amount of data centers(think about 20 worldwide). For their game streaming they like to partner with other companies and do deals on the hardware in them. For Microsoft they would have been fighting with everyone else for the top of the line Nvidia AI chips, that’s where Nvidia seem to be making the biggest data center impact.

X/Twitter really needs some kind of a automated AI fact checker built in which automatically labels the tweet as true/false.
There’s so many inaccurate statements being thrown around, however when you direct these people to actual legitimate source data they still don’t believe it. Instead they usually direct to you to some random tweet or a random image someone has mocked up (which is also false).
The scary thing is people actually believe in all this fake nonsense then pass it on.

I havn’t even played it yet and only watched footage and I still wouldn’t trust anyone that would give it a score that low
How many shooters nowadays are providing the amount of content a CoD does at launch? People can be unhappy about old maps or bad single player, that’s fine but there’s no reality where a game that’s providing more content than other shooters at launch, nevermind 6 months to a year later should be considered 4 or 5/10, especially when the MP plays as well as it seems like it does
Maybe i’ll change my mind when I finally play it but as always, reviewers are just getting harder and harder to take seriously
