I find it really strange how nobody I know IRL seems to want to get an Xbox series X, and I’m from the United States. I know a few people who upgraded to the Series S but aside from that, most people I know bought a PS5 to play God of War or whatever.
I don’t even know if Starfield is enough to save Xbox brand awareness considering how its a new IP and all. I think Elder Scrolls VI could be the big push to get Xbox back to its big status, Halo Infinite was sort of a big deal when it released but it was a free to play game that was on last gen. I only know one other person aside from myself who played the campaign which is a bit of a bummer.
I seriously don’t understand the hype around God of War Ragnorok, I still haven’t finished 2018 because the gameplay just doesn’t feel fast enough for me. I think most casuals really jump in on the hype, Microsoft could really use a hyped up game. Hi-Fi Rush was great, but I don’t know that many people who’ve finished it aside from myself. Talking about Xbox with friends just makes me realize how small our opinion on the console really is. Xbox needs to improve their image and release some game of the year winners.
I mean you’re not really wrong triple aaa titles push console sales. Gow ragnarok was a huge boost for PlayStation. Hopefully redfall and starfield will kickstart some more momentum.
In my circles there’s a hell of alot more people who have a Series X than had an Xbox One that’s for sure. last gen it was me and like one guy I know playing on Xbox. A lot of people have both XSX and PS5, like me.
On local sites I frequent it was me, and a couple others in a sea of PC-PS people last gen. Now, there’s a lot more activity from people with Xbox Series consoles in comment sections, forums etc. For me it’s like Rohan has showed up hehe.
Forza Horizon and Game Pass are the big pull factors so far, and Starfield is one of the most anticipated titles all categories. (Halo is more a sink for the brand atm, with mostly negative things around it). People IN the ecosystem are playing a lot of Game Pass games, and spreading the word.
Three times now I’ve spoken to people at the school about consoles they’re getting their kids (aged around 8ish) and after one got a PS5 there was serious buyers remorse at paying £60 a new game.
I explained the Series S and Gamepass and they were agog. No one really know about it! MS need to Blitz Gamepass more in the mainstream, I reckon, it could be huge. Maybe it will be!
I just finished Metal Gear Rising Revengeance and now I’m looking for more character action games that are over the top and have that cheesy feel to them.
I finished Hi-Fi Rush and Devil May Cry V, what should I play next?
