It’s usually because they aren’t very good at the game. Older From Software titles like Demon Souls and Dark Souls 1&2 are “clunky” in a way. But anyone who says they’re still non responsive games after those two especially Sekiro are just being disingenuous. Also anyone who says they lose gear or weapons in souls games makes me think they haven’t actually played them.
Well From is one of the best studios in the industry in the last 10+ years plus their games are among the best and more influential over the last decade or so too and this is a gaming enthusiast forum so it’s normal to talk about them.
If anything I think it’s refreshing to see us talking about games in here instead of shitty, hot take articles or dumb tweets.
Yeah me too! I’d love to see NT make an action/adventure game a la Enslaved but with good mechanics this time around, the world and characters were really cool in that game but the combat system and the automatic (you literally couldn’t fail) platforming got boring really fast.
Hopefully we’ll see a new game directed by Tucker in the future, she is really talented in terms of combat and I think that she has the potential to make something truly great.
People drop any game after a certain amount of time. Just look at the playerbase for any game. It will drop off a cliff after about 3-6 months after release, unless it is a good GAAS. People dropping souls games cause it’s to hard should not matter. I want to see it from Ninja Theory. Hellblade 2 will be ultra cinematic, that’s fine. Ninja Theory can make great combat games that is not ultra cinematic movie feel driven. I hope they do both.
I do, and i will. I do not prefer too many cinematic action parts in my games and i hate quick time event. I still play games that have them. I just don’t like them much. Cinematic action with QTE cater to another part of the gaming community. I don’t like them, does not mean that i don’t want game studio to not make them. You seem to not want MS studio to do different things?
Xbox 1st party is the WRPG king right now. 1 Soulslike game from them is not to much to ask/want. You hate soulslike… OK, just don’t play them.
If Ms are going to pay Team Ninja it should be for one game and one game only. Exclusive Ninja Gaiden.
Wow, there’s drama on otherEra about Spiderman launching in October at the same time as Assassin’s Creed Mirage and Alan Wake 2 and ‘oh lord and baby Jesus’ it’s so fun to watch them just ripping apart people that says that it’s fine, which suggest at a subliminal level to them that Spiderman isn’t that big of a franchise…
These guys…
Alan Wake isn’t even a known IP on PlayStation. They only got the remaster of the first game a couple years ago. People on Xbox like me waited 13 years for the sequel ! Come on…
It is in those moments when you realise they should be called SonyERA.
In their minds, theres no world beyond 1st party Playstation exclusives, and releasing next to Spiderman 2 is little less than heresy. What a bunch of morons.
Sorry
Banjo souls game?
Personally, im hyped for all three. Will be playing AC Mirage first via Ubisoft+ as a nice $20 monthly rental followed by Alan Wake 2 and then Spider Man 2, both of which I will be buying the ultimate/deluxe/whatever it’s called digital edition. October is stacked. Was hoping for Spider Man 2 to be the second week of November. But no biggie.
Sales wise, I see Alan Wake 2 as being the game that sells the least while AC Mirage will sell the most due to it being cross-generation. Rating wise, I have it as Spider Man 2, Alan Wake 2 and AC Mirage from best to worst via Open Critic.
Just a heads up, but here in the US, Best Buy has a Series S bundle for $240 right now.
Forza Motorsport will obliterate all three!
Been putting more time into it due to it being the weekend and damn does Diablo 4 feel so good to play.
Has anyone done the calcs on whether the Xbox don’t buy jrpg narrative is true or is it just Japanese sales carrying ps5 sales.
If Xbox had a strong foot in Japan I suspect none of these games would skip.
Foamstars is getting positive previews, but I feel they might’ve shot themselves in the foot being PS5 only. I think you need the PC market to have a successful GaaS
Looks like September is going to be a huge month for Game Pass. So far there are Starfield (#1 most awaited game on PC), Party Animals (#3 most awaited) and Lies of P (#23 but currently climbing with the demo).

The best kind of games to play in a group are the ones where you are laughing the entire time without needlessly walking away upset on whether or not you won the last round. That is exactly how I felt after playing two straight hours of Party Animals, the latest big party game on the horizon.
