Yeah, but I still only see

Once an image takes root in my head, it’s kind of hard to get rid of it.

Seems like we should be getting previews of Alan Wake 2 next week. Andy’s description really does paint this game as being a big departure from the first one.

This sounds so good, play triple trouble if you want to see the origins of Fang. Also there is a cool fanmade 16 bit version of that game which is awesome and can even be played on mobile

Oh jeez, no thanks. Please keep your studios away from souls Microsoft. Thanks.

I agree. I’m just happy that the date for SM 2 is finally out there. FF7 Rebirth looks awesome and that was a bonus as I wasn’t expecting it until Tokyo Game Show.

Sounds great thus far. Hyped for Alan Wake 2!!

I would welcome a Miyazaki helmed Souls Like for xbox with open arms. As highly as Phil talks about him one would think he’d at least try to work something out for their next Souls game. Elden Ring has given me a taste for them and I am going to be diving back into it soon with the DLC along with Bloodbourne again.

I’d even take another Sekiro (contrary to popular belief is NOT a Soulslike) while we’re at it.

Why? What’s the matter? Game too tough for you lol. You prefer hand holding easy story mode?

I think one 1st party studio, making one soulslike is fine. Prefer Ninja Theory make it.

Where should I start? Every souls game is stiff and clunky as fuck. They’re never fluid or responsive whatsoever. Always have frame rate issues and frame pacing issues. The story is non-existent. There’s never any options to customize how you play. Difficulty isn’t the issue. I play majority of my games on hard. Steel Rising is a souls game but allows you to adjust four options. For me, the main option being that when I died, I didn’t lose all my weapons, gear and anima essence (souls). The respawning enemies is fine. Starting over where you last saved is fine. But losing all my shit, yeah, I don’t think so. No thanks.

Oh jeez. If Ninja Theory were to make a souls game, well, gee what a shock. One of my favorite studios pre-Microsoft would then become total shit for me personally. So again, no thanks and for Ninja Theory, fuck no!! They make great third person story driven action adventure games which is what I prefer and in no way, shape or form do I want to see Ninja Theory make a souls game. UGH.

Why would one of their premiere action studios start doing something else when Xbox is lacking in action games?

Which giant bomb at nite day is Phil on? Is there a guest schedule anywhere? I couldn’t find one.

Same day of the conference. Not sure what time though.

Thanks, that makes sense. Gotta be a long day for him to do the showcase and Fanfest and that and whatever else.

I tried watching Giantbombs at nite today, and It is a very meak shadow of what it was with the original guys and Jeff Gerstmann hosting. I will turn on for Phil and Matt though. If they weren’t on I wouldn’t watch anymore.

Giantbomb were the best in the business before. No other gaming outlet had better pound for pound group of people at any one time than giantbomb from 2008 to 2016 even 2017 to 2021 was damn good too. Also R.I.P Ryan Davies

Id like them to make their own character action game yes

But lets not lump in souls games all in the same catagory. They could make a souls hybrid

Yep, I still really miss Ryan, Him and Jeff were a great combo and bounced off each other so well. My wife still has the old Bombcasts from when he was alive on her old MacBook, she listens to it from time to time.

Your opinion on this is really bad. I play all types of games and genres. Souls games is huge now. There is a major market for it. Elden Ring sold 20 million plus in less than 1 year. Two souls game won Game of the Year… Sekiro, Elden Ring. Souls game from Fromsoft are always utra highly rated and always get Game of the year Nominations. You don’t like it, that fine. Let the other millions of gamer including myself play it.

Ninja Theory made DMC, they can do combat. They don’t need to follow Fromsoft exact soulslike formula. They can make it faster pace.

3rd person Cinematic action adventure game with quick time event right. That’s your favorite. It’s the Sony special. When you play too many Sony’s games, you tend to like that. I play it also but i don’t prefer that type of movie style game, where it takes basically zero skill to play.

I would much rather see Microsoft pay From Software or Team Ninja to make an exclusive souls game instead of having Ninja Theory or one of their internally owned studios doing it.

We’ll see how From’s next souls game does and no, I don’t mean Armored Core. I believe that the vast majority of those who purchased Elden Ring including myself dropped it very quickly so I see it as an outlier to where their next main souls game goes back to the 6m or so sales that they normally get.

I don’t see my opinion being bad at all because is From’s game’s not clunky, stiff, have performance issues (which seem to get a pass every time), etc.? Everything I said is accurate. Elden Ring is basically the souls version of BOTW. I’m sure the game is amazing but in no way, shape or form do I want to see Ninja Theory make a souls game.

Let Microsoft overpay From Software or Team Ninja to make an exclusive Souls game for Xbox. The combat in souls games isn’t my problem. As I stated, my main issue is playing let’s say for several hours, dying and losing what I gained in those several hours. This is why I loved Steel Rising. Souls like game with souls like combat (slow, defensive, parrying, etc.) but allows me to retain what I gained upon death which is great.

But I know that the vast majority of developers that make a souls game isn’t going to include that option so for me, I don’t even want to see Ninja Theory or any of Microsoft’s internally owned studios even take that risk.

I’m not stopping or preventing anyone from playing souls games or any game for that matter. I just don’t want one of the few remaining great studios I have under Microsoft to start making games that I don’t care about to where the studio becomes non-existent for me. I’m trying to get more games from the studios I care about, not less. It’s as simple as that.

The quick time events is for the action sequences and everyone who bashes this has never ever come up with a solution on how to accomplish completing the action sequence without quick time events. It’s because no one will be able to react fast enough to complete the action sequence and if the sequence was slowed down, then it’s obviously not an action sequence. Also, Sony is NOT the only publisher that does this. Capcom, EA, Crystal Dynamics and so many others do the same thing so if you’re going to bash Sony for this, then you should bash them all.

I personally would like to see From stop making souls games and make a genre that I like instead.
