XboxEra Community Hangout |OT| Safe Space no longer required (Part 1)

Really curious how this impacts sales. If it turns out to be a positive we’ll see a lot more of these types of deals going forward im sure.

True dat. Evo is not worth 4.8 bn euros.

I just find it funny wasn’t that game announced as “taking full advantage of PS5” or something along the lines of only capable of PS5 yet it’s coming to PCs which would have much slower SSDs and slower gpus/cpus.

Haha, yeah. Pretty much everything on that side of the console fence has turned out to be a bunch of meh PR.

Just like apparently Smart Delivery was dumb and just a stupid PR thing… how the tables turn haha.

This somehow took 5 hours to process at 4k… it’s 2:10 long… well it’s done, enjoy!

Great stuff. Looking forward to these videos always. :+1:

What hardware are you using for editing and rendering? DaVinci or obs?

Capture is through the Series X, then I use DaVinci Resolve for my editing. Making the 4 video track square was the only hard part. that took a lot of tinkering to line up. I use a laptop with a good cpu and a 2060 rtx and I generally get a 1 to 1 in encode time per second. DaVinci is great.

I would agree, and prior to this year I have questioned gamepasses value for me, given work and family can keep me from my console sometimes for weeks at a time. Since they have taken all these steps to increase its value though it is fast becoming a “necessity”.

Anyone else waiting on upgrades before playing games. I’m waiting on Doom eternal just now.

This is overall a very cool community but I’ve got to say the way some of you talk about Game Pass is becoming very off-putting. Saying things like,

“I question your sanity”

&

“I don’t respect your opinion”

to people who may not need or want to take out a subscription service for their games just comes off as needlessly smug, like that person is beneath you & you’re superior because you value said subscription in a different way. It’s like a version of “looking down your nose” at people, which is unpleasant, unnecessary behaviour.

If you think that Game Pass is good value, then great. Seriously, good for you. Enjoy it. If you want to turn people on to Game Pass, it might be a better idea to simply point to all the fun games included in the service & then let the people come to it if they want.

We’re all our own people at the end of the day. We all have our own opinions & value different things in different ways. Even if we disagree on something like Game Pass, we can still be friends & enjoy gaming on Xbox together. Becoming exclusionary & belittling people is not the way, in my opinion.

This is the Scott Steiner of upgrading a game…

You know what, you’re right Steve, apologies for perpetuating questions of sanity by my tacit agreement.

I agreed with the sentiment that gamepass is fast becoming very difficult to ignore and seemingly every week has something more to help justify its existence. However as someone who has found it difficult to justify full price, I agree that someone not wanting to use it is not foolish for doing so.
Similarly someone wishing to buy everything physically or digitally (or full price) its not a sign of witlessness. Owning something (as far as one can) is important to people, so is a dislike for subscription services and if anyone just “doesn’t want” it then they should not be made to feel stupid.

I guess what doesn’t help is the definite commentary that Gamepass is “Amazing Value”, the individual determines the value of x, it is not the place of MS, Press or us to dictate what the value of anything is to an individual is. For many it represents huge value, for others, less so and thats fine.

:green_heart:

@Shpeshal_Nick Personally I agree with your statement, Game pass currently is amazing value for me, but would take the moment to clarify, though I know you mean it tongue in cheek, I don’t judge anyone for not having Gamepass.

Isn’t that always the case at the start of a new gen. Platform holders, developers gives such PR statements and sets unrealistic expectations to build up hype and after the launch its always a somewhat dud. I mean Sony showed us that Deep Down and the Dark Sorcerer Demo and we came close but never achieved that amount of total fidelity throughout the game. The same is going to repeat, we shall possibly now come much closer to those Demos but won’t make a drastic difference visually.

I mean the transformative SSD story, and eliminating and having no loading screens has all gone down the drain. I mean it has drastically reduced loading times but when you put in more detailed geometry and hi rez textures and stream bigger worlds, end of the day wont be able to completely eliminate the loading screens.

I don’t think that will happen though. Would be very bad look.

It seems like due to a lot of news, there is some frenzy on twitter and a lot of “stick it to Sony”. Guess Sony’s domination last gen took a toll on people…

Been saying this for a while now. There’s room for both gamepass subscribers and retail buyers in Xbox ecosystem but whenever I say that, people get needlessly hostile for some reason like I blasphemed or something lol.

There’s a reason why Steam day and date is a thing as well, because buying games outright will always be important or preferable for several reasons ranging from DRM problems, choice paralysis, potential content drought, lack of control over files especially if you’re on PC, generally play very few games anyway, etc.

All I hope is Xbox doesn’t stop releasing their games in retail once Gamepass hits critical mass. That would be very upsetting and immediately diminish value of gamepass to me. It’s ironic, the value of gamepass to me is intrinsically tied into it being a choice, an exceptional and irresistible one, but a choice nonetheless. The day they take away that choice is the day gamepass becomes an inferior service.
