Yup, from Microsoft Perspective it’s fantastic. And it is a great console. But I do believe scalpers should get far more of the “EVIL EYE” for creating this bullshit of a situation. Of course there is a chip shortage, but in my country the grand total of minutes an Xbox Series X is available is… 0. It just get’s gobbled up faster than they can put it on, faster than humans can respond.
If only everybody did this when they’d meet one, rather than buy their crap due to FOMO:
I never understood why people pin themselves to 1 console, not in the sense that they only have the 1 console but the fact they hate everything about the others. unless is something sensible like affordability. Why limit yourself.
I was lucky as a kid me and my brother would just alternate asking for consoles so if I asked for 1 console for a birthday or Xmas the next he’d ask for the other. So the only consoles I didn’t have since I started getting into consoles which started with the SNES generation were the mega drive, Saturn, OG Xbox the rest have I’ve had.
Why the fanboys only stick to 1 and live and die by that 1 console is nuts. You limit yourself so much.
The S is perfect for those who aren’t fan boys and just want to be able to play everything
People here and the other forum really don’t understand the value proposition of Series S.
Game pass is giant driver for parents and gamers and Series S gives both demographics a cheap entry to it. You don’t go into a store to settle on buying a Series S console, heck even some of the most hardcore ps fanboys I know bought a series S as a complimentary console because of Game Pass.
Oh yes, there I fully agree. However I didn’t want my change of showing disdain for scalpers to pass me by! I do think it’s a great little machine that probably will sell really well, especially once it breaks the 199 freedom bucks/Europoly money barrier.
I don’t see it going below $250. I think the next market adjustment would be to expand the NVME storage to 1TB from 512 GB instead of lowering the price.
I do, the moment the bigger consoles get a price drop and are well available, like in 2 years. Then you’ll get a 199 base model and a 249 1tb model. It’ll be around longer than we think. Especially in poorer countries.
I dont see the base top consoles ever getting a price drop. Even last gen the PS4 never had a price drop like how PS3 or X360 did. There really won’t be substantial SOC die shrinks. That is the usual driver of system price drops. Microsoft said as much of this at their Series X Hot Chips presentation.
Would be happy to be wrong, but I just don’t see it happening.
MS will probably be very aggressive with the Series S, as they want it into houses as a Gamepass/Streaming machine. So when they can go to 199 with no loss, you bet your ass they will have a few “deals” coming that Friday of Blackness .
I think you should consider chip shortage right now will continue to next year. Xbox series s will not get permanent price drop until it gets first refresh by 2023 or 2024, what you should expect timed framed deals they will probably start with 280 drop or 6 months to 12 months gpu bundle
Series S has no problem being in stock, the only thing holding it back is chip prices. But even the PS5 is now profitable. Series S actually might get profitable soon. It then comes down to MS: How bad do they want to get gamepass into houses across the globes. They need to be aggressive if they wish to grow.
I can just see the future stories, whenever a new game like Starfield, Avowed, Fable, Perfect Dark etc has dropped on Gamepass, or some new Halo Infinite DLC, or third party exclusive etc.
“I have to be honest, I was so mad at my parents when I unwrapped that Christmas present back in 2021 and it was an Xbox Series S and not a PS5. Now? I’m fully converted over to Xbox and am so grateful they got that for me”
When I read forums like resetera i think that the hardcore gamer totally lose perspective on what goes on in the real world.
Kids and teenagers aren’t sat thinking about frame rates and pixels or what size GPU and CPU’s are in the ps5, series x or s. They just want a new console that plays new games.
Yes a handful might be aware and want the best they can get but the majority just want their parents to get them a new console. Most parents don’t care which is the more powerful and plays in 4K they just look at price and will their kid be happy with it. That’s why the series s sold well. It’s cheap and it’s next gen & everyone has probably waited until Black Friday to start their Xmas shopping and then there we go. Kid sorted for Xmas.
Yes a few kids may have asked for a ps5 but I doubt parents are tracking stock etc to find them one so the majority of kids will be in the same boat and all end up with the same console. Even those who may have a ps5 who’s friends don’t, may ask for a series S as that’s all their friends have as they want to play together.
Same with teenagers young adults they may have preferred the x or ps5 but they’re happy to get an S so they have a next gen console.
Yeah, I don’t care for the Series S personally, I have two Series X instead lol. But for the markets where it makes sense it will be a smash hit. Casuals, families, PS-fanbois cheating on Cerny etc. for them it’s perfect.
Yeah a bunch of my friends got a Series S until they can find the Series X at retail including a couple PS lifers who switched due to the one-two punch of Bethesda and Gamepass. I still remember my friend calling me saying “so with Gamepass I will get Starfield without paying $60? And Elder Scrolls? And Doom?” Like it was a scam, lol.
