I heard that almost all gamers in Germany are WRPG-fans like in France and Spain. So it is interesting to see if the hardcore fanbase keep resisting on Series S as their 2ndary console behind PS5 to play bethesda games, after Phil doubling-down on Bethesda’s exclusivity.
Maybe because those games still haven’t released? The only thing that will make everyone ‘get it’ is when the games are out and advertised everywhere with the ‘Xbox exclusi’ banner slapped on it. The public don’t read what Phil says on some website interview, they see what they see on retailers and online stores and huge billboards and TV ads, etc

Yes, even the hardcore fanbase. If you’re gonna get Xbox mainly for Bethesda’s games and WRPGs, it’s not really the time now as those games still haven’t released or even shown gameplay for. Like, there’s no rush.
For example, I’m now into Naughty Dog’s games and interested in what SSM make next + GoW2, those will most likely be the reason I get a PS5 eventually, but not anytime soon. No rush to get it now.

Xbox had a solid install base with 360 over here. Xbox One was worse. Lets see how this round goes. Series S is almost all the time on shelves (doesn’t mean it doesn’t sell). A lot of people in Germany are also PC players and will just play and mod Starfield on their computers.
Not even then, but when more and more 3rd party games are next-gen only and the Series X/PS5 are still supply constrained. Console gamers are really not going to have many options if they wish to continue to play the new releases.

I admit that as an American I have a hard time understanding how Europe gaming culture is different than American gaming culture but I can assure you that the Series S has never sat unsold here in the US. I paid $325 (25 over MSRP) for a used Series S three weeks ago on eBay. At this point Xbox has EA sports + Bethesda in Xbox Gamepass. This generation is going to be different than the last. Maybe Europe will pivot away from WRPGs and free FIFA? That doesn’t sound logical to me but if that’s the narrative then sure see how that goes for you.
The German market is not that different to the American I think. Where you play 2k, people here play Fifa. Racing games are a bit more popular. And obviously you have this whole ***sim market here with Bussimulator, Farmsimulator, Trainsimulator etc.
You can just compare most played games on Xbox for different regions for yourself. Just change the culture string in the url.

Historical home computers like Amiga, Atari ST, C64 were big in the 80s and 90s over here and a lot of people transitioned to PCs. The major console players are Nintendo (obviously) and Sony. Xbox had up and downs and could definitely use more local support (but there are countries and regions fare worse of). Xbox has a special uphill battle here because Microsoft is not the most popular company.

I mean I love the S, it’s the little console that can… cheaper, smaller, cuter and all next gen!
