Here’s the issue with the PS5 disk vs nodisk. You can’t just look at it as the DE being cheaper, you also have to ask if people will be happy spending $100 more for just a disk drive.
also given the absolutely abysmal to nonexistent BC program on the PS5 side, I think the disk edition exists only to prop up the DE as the Definitive Edition to buy
This will be a negetive, but after thinking about it, the pros of a $399 machine far outweigh the cons of having a few angry physical media fans. Plus sonys fanbase is so fanatical they will find a way to rationalize it.
So technically the specs aren’t officially confirmed, but wow. What a random time for this to drop.
That price though…
That is the plan, though. People should be discless so second hand market gets destroyed → more money for Sony.
Lots of options for potential customers is never a bad thing.
Destiny Beyond Light is launching the same day as XSX/XSS. I don’t think this is coincidence.
I have been confused as to why no Destiny expansions on GP yet and even weirder no date. I said to a friend that I bet they are making Destiny Beyond Light something special for XSX and it’s going to one of the games shown off in the pricing reveal. At the same time they will shadow drop Shadowkeep and Forsaken into GP.
So that’s what I’m expecting, not an exclusive obviously but if it really shows of the power of XSX and gets the message out wider that Xbox Gamepass is the best place to play Destiny then bring it on.
Alone it won’t do much but if it’s part of it a group of strong announcements it could do well.
Game U.K. still seem to be offering £198 cash (£220 store credit) for the One X. Tempted to go without Xbox for 2 months at that price.
The XSS is a much better deal than i expected to be honest. Small device, great specs and an even better price. Im impressed to be honest.
I wonder how All Access will translate price wise in the UK. $25 a month for Series S in the US could mean £20 a month in the UK. This is £480 over two years, minus £249 for the Series S and you’re paying about £9 a month for Game Pass Ultimate, which would be amazing. Even US pricing is good for All Access, effectively $12.50 a month for Gamepass Ultimate once you minus the console.
When is that dam pre-order opening up!!
In the major markets I doubt many will care, but in the smaller markets where physical disks are important I can see a little pushback if there is a large price gap and the drive is the only difference.
Great price, I wonder how conversion will work for Canada.
Same here (Montreal).
I wonder when preorders start?
So what, people buy Digital anyways? Where is the win on Sony’s side when people already buy more digital? Disc console doesn’t mean people will buy only discs hell any discs potentially.
“The potential win” is not that big since we already move to digital anyways and this trend continues.
I’d assume next week, as the announcement seems to have been planned for next week.
