Alright, i don’t have an answer for that. Its paranoia at this point given its uncharted waters for me as a Xbox user and i don’t know were Xbox Higher ups are putting their priorities at.
Really? I have not seen much news on that online, most places i read just said it was playground themselves.
Also, what are some directions you think Xbox should focus on when it comes to its own userbase? Is it just the games and gamepass or is there more you wish they do?
While your question is based on external studios working on Sony/Nintendo ports, I have an interesting topic -
With Indiana Jones releasing on PS5 this Spring, if you’re Microsoft when do you release it? Because I can’t imagine them releasing it close to Doom: The Dark Ages which will be on PS5 day one. The sooner Microsoft can get to day and date, the better off they’ll be in my opinion.
Perhaps but I think if Indy was going to Switch 2, Microsoft would have said it by now. I’m expecting Towerborne, Hi Fi Rush (even though it’s not Microsoft’s anymore) and South of Midnight as the games that will be shown during the Switch 2 direct. I just don’t see many big tech heavy games like a Starfield, Indiana Jones or Flight Simulator going to Switch 2 unless it’s 100% streaming only.
Towerborne and South of Midnight no. But Hifi rush yep, makes the most sense.
Also i just don’t think Nintendo Hardwares is gonna be able to move around some of the specs of these newer and technological titles that we see nowadays. If they do, then its likely that they will become in the same scenario as Microsoft and Sony.
I can easily see Towerborne because it’s a live service co-op beat em up. I can see South of Midnight because it’s basically an AA title that I don’t see doing all that well and Microsoft will probably want to get as much of a return on it as possible.
I agree in regards to the hardware and specs. That’s why I don’t see those other games happening unless it’s streaming only.
I have heard people say it was this February; I’m guessing the release date will be announced at the rumored state of play coming up like next week or soon. They might want to do the stealth thing.
I don’t see Microsoft showing their games on any Sony show/event of any kind. It will either be a trailer with a release date, a tweet, a blog post or get announced at some sort of independent show like Keighley’s Summer Game Fest even though in this instance, it would be later than expected.
I don’t recall it being called a live service. No offense.
South of Midnight? Maybe, but i do think the case by case is gonna hold for the moment. But is my guess.
Genuine question, if all legacy titles get ported to other platforms should Xbox try their hands at making replacements for each one just in case anything bad happens? This is just hypothetical for the sake of it.
No need to stress about this stuff. Its mostly just hypothetical and what ifs questions and conversations about certain scenarios that could be played at in the future.
Its mostly a hypothetical question about if Xbox should look into replacing Legacy Ip like Halo, Forza and Gears and whatnot in the future since they will likely be on other platforms and such in the future, mostly just in case one thing or the other does not pan out in the long run for them is what i was trying to convey.
Sorry if i was weird or whatever with it peter. Meant nothing by it.
As for the legacy stuff, if Halo and Gears get ported to Sony/Nintendo platforms, I don’t really see the point in Microsoft trying to establish new legacy IP’s simply because at that point, anything and everything would probably get ported to all platforms.
Hmm, while i see your point in the end. But my gut at least tells me that just as a precaution i think at the very least its a move that should be at the backburner just in case something goes awry in their current strategy.
At least that is a stunt i would do in case my competitors pull something under me and undermine the efforts made.
That’s my perspective overall. I just think its important to have backups just in case is all i will say on the matter.
Indiana Jones is technically not a Microsoft Ip but a Disney one and the game was already announced so I don’t see why it couldn’t happen after all I think grounded was announced at a Nintendo direct.
Ninja Gaidan 4 being a publishing deal got me thinking today about one positive angle. In the past, publishing deals required MS to pay on the basis that the game would miss PS/Switch. Now, a publishing deal presumably means the game has Play Anywhere support and is permanently in Game Pass on Xbox, but can still ship on all consoles. I’d expect such deals to be much cheaper than “skip PS” deals were. So we could see more XGS published games for the same dollar investment going forward, which will continue to expand the Game Pass catalog.
I’m seeing tweets that people are expecting Starfield at the SoP, hey I guess it’s a possibility and it should be interesting to see how all of a sudden the game is great for those that shitted on it beforehand.
