That would be terrible if true. The excitement will be out of Xbox.
Maybe but, its not gonna be a great look for next gen hardware if the start porting flagship from the get go.
Heck i would prefer Hellblade 2 be ported as i do not consider it a flagship series as vital as Forza is to Xbox. It would damaged the brand even more and folks should be concerned, especially if people bought the console for exclusives.
To be honest its a dick move to platform users who don’t use pc or cannot to buy another console.
Am sorry for the swear but felt like it needed to be said.
It’s a good move imo. It’ll print money and the game is old and everyone on Xbox that wants to play it has gotten their fill. We’re probably not that far off from FH6 as well, and there are multiplatform competitors incoming (including from former Playground staff).
Nice, at Gamescom of all places where it should be a time to celebrate Xbox games. Yeah not a fan. Gonna take a while before I’ll get used to this. And I’m sure that goes for many Xbox fans.
That’s not happening because a 3 year old game is ported to help extend its lifespan.
If it is FH5, they just killed 90% of the market for GT.
But the only difference compared to the other games released on PS5 is that FH has been a huge Xbox IP for a long time now. If this happens it just shows the big decisions, the big change is happening way sooner.
Gears of War might be next, Halo? Yeah, we should really just accept it and get used to it. I guess I was slightly still hoping they’d take it easy, but doesn’t seem like it. FH6 day and date on PS5 or will that be a “exclusive” for Xbox until it isn’t?
It’s live service so kinda makes sense to have a wide player base - and everyone who wants to play it on Xbox and PC already has.
It’s not going to drive Xbox sales from other console owners at this point anyway, as anyone who really wanted to play it would have relented by now
Day & Date makes sense from DOOM The Dark Ages type releases more than “everything”. Do not jump to conclusions to feed into a fear and realize that as long as Xbox can sell 30+ million consoles a generation they’ll never stop making hardware.
This, like Sea of Thieves, would give a shot in the arm of a popular game that is slowing down as it ages. The only potential for us as customers is if hardware stops being made in the future or games stop coming. I don’t have fears for either, personally.
Nothing Xbox is doing is driving anyone to buy an Xbox but they are driving their own fans away
It may be good for Microsoft as a whole, but i fail to see any reason for why it would be good for Xbox hardware. Forza is currently the most popular of the core Xbox franchises, surpassing even Halo and Gears in popularity, and FH5 is the most successful game ever of the franchise. If a game as big as that gets released on other platforms, than everything else is a matter of time.
Also, FH5 isn’t an old game. It is 2.5 years old and the next Forza game is probably a year and half away.
Let me say now, if you haven’t been around for months and are driving by to say “xbox ded”, don’t.
It will definitely do great and maybe even kill Gran Turismo on PS forever(lol!), but this is coming with massive discourse attached to it.
I’ll just say its a crazy gamble to make heading into next gen. I’ll just say if games release to playstation 1-3 years after an xbox release. Then, I am more than fine going with PS6 and wait for games to eventually launch on PS6. They’re kind of pushing their current console base to make the jump to Playstation. I am whatever since I own both consoles, but prefer xbox. However, next gen I might skip xbox and go with just Playstation due to games releasing on Playstation 2-3 years.
Lastly, this is a major gamble porting your biggest console exclusive to the competitor
You make a point but there’s an underlying issue is what i think Victor is trying to say Jesse.
I think its more that if the higher ups at Xbox port more and more of their flagships and other know games, regardless of how old it is, to others consoles it kinda makes the current users of Xbox Hardware, mostly hardcore and casual gamers, see this whole thing kinda like a bad investment and they would more than likely switch to another console brand.
At least that’s my perception of it, if this comes to pass both Satya and Phil will realised its too late and destroy their hardware brand.
Its like how it happened with the Windows Phone and we know how much that cost for them in the long run. Its feel like this.
Also Ponies will be shooting Xbox users a lot while they are down and that’s honestly annoying and frustrating.
It isn’t good for Xbox hardware but it doesn’t need to be. It just needs to be not that bad, and I don’t think porting a 3 year old game that is basically at end of life is that bad. If FH6 hits other platforms 3+ years after release, it still won’t be that bad (to me).
I’m surprised at how fast I weened myself off the narcotic of being a Xbox super fan. This would have been a defcon 1 WAIT WHAT?! 6 months ago. Now it’s just oh okay. At this rate the Halo announcement will be met with “what took you so long?” lol.
I really hope you’re right on that. It remains my only fear. They did say new hardware is being made so I’m gonna trust that until they say otherwise. And hopefully devs keep supporting the hardware too.
That means nothing, move yourself away from worrying about things like that and life is so much more enjoyable
