Xbox multi platform discussion

Microsoft showed us Surface Neo and cancelled it few years later.

Not saying it’s gonna happening with Xbox consoles, but you never know.

I do know, the worst Xbox console has sold better than any Surface product by a large number.

Considering the monster numbers that Forza Horizon has driven up, it’d be genuinely interesting to see how it performed on Playstation. Seems like an easy dumptruck of cash for Xbox.

I see your point, but I think that you are reducing FH5 importance. It is definitely the most successful Microsoft game of the current generation, even more than Starfield. It is the best racing game in the market by a longshot. More importantly, it is one Xbox core franchises, ever since the first Xbox.

And it will still be on the system, day and date, in game pass. Late ports do not hurt you as a customer.

Genuine question. Do you think it would be a good move if Microsoft release Elder Scrolls 6 or FH 6 day one on PlayStation ?

I know, i block buckets full of them but it persists.

Anywho

Yeah, that’s pretty much something i think could potentially happen.

Heck i do wonder what is the excuse Phil will make for its core audience once he realises that most folks will not buy their hardware with these stunts. Truly annoying. Like they have zero faith in their platform its what’s being said to me with things like this.

Like does he truly think exclusives will not make folks buy hardware? Cause the last few years proven to me that his take is wrong.

Also, did Matt Booty not say that they will have exclusives still? So how can folks be secured about this whole things, its just makes playstation more desirable in the future of hardware.

Elder Scrolls as an IP has a history for its last two launches of being everywhere. Forza Horizon has never been day and date on anything but Xbox or PC. If ES6 is on PS6 I wouldn’t be surprised, if FH6 was I would be. I also think people need to realize that “exclusives” don’t push hardware the way they think they do outside of Nintendo and that publishers are realizing that.

Until playstation does it by porting games on Xbox then no. It fact its a bad look for them in terms of the hardware ecosystem.

Yeah, I am sure for a lot of people a game like this is part of the core identity of Xbox and seeing something like this represents a worrying shift.

I also think FH is big and has the ability to be huge. I think we are entering an era where Microsoft is more interested in software and MAU than they are in selling hardware.

Everything is signaling that this is the way they are going. Expectation of lower volume hardware with increased emphasis of meeting customers where they are. If it bothers people that much then vote with your dollars next gen. I personally think that when combined with PC support to offset a potential loss of third party support, it’s a smart move.

I get it, but that doesn’t really answer my question.

I’m just curious if you think releasing FH6 or TES 6 day one on PlayStation is a good move.

A good move for us as customers? A good move for Xbox/Microsoft? It has zero negative effects for us as customers as long as Xbox keeps their ecosystem going. If they decide it’s worth porting to PS5 at launch then I would have to assume they know it’s not going to kill their own storefront/hardware business.

Wish it was Halo but Forza is cool if it is that.

Halo really needs the player base infusion but people would lose their f’ing minds.

Halo is too far gone at this point. Porting it wouldn’t save it’s reputation haha.

Yeah, bad idea like end of hardware bad idea. Xbox ain’t gonna be stupid enough to pull that if they know the consequences for this move and how bad overall the hardware brand would be hit.

Such a bummer. People letting their fragile egos stand in the way of the betterment of the IP.

I get you. I just feel like there’s two kind of Xbox fans now. The ones who want the classic Xbox console experience that we had since the original Xbox, and the ones who want non traditional ways of playing, be it a PC/console hybrid or cloud.

This FH5 news may be good for the second kind of fan, but as a fan of the classic Xbox consoles experience, this doesn’t sound like good news at all. It my be good for the company as a whole, but for me, as a hardware fan, I’m not happy at all.

At this point I have zero problems releasing games year later on other platforms especially service games.

But if Microsoft start putting Halo, Gears and Forza day 1 on PlayStation I don’t see how it’s not gonna damage their storefront or hardware.

Halo, mainly thanks to its fans, is far down the line in importance for Xbox IPs at this point. Arena shooters that can’t do ridiculous IP crossovers will never be as popular as fortnite/cod/etc.

I do not think that day and date will be a thing for most releases even if it would help MP/MTX focused ones.
